My 1st Cure album

This was the first Cure album I ever bought. I got in 1988 (on cassette tape no less!). I was pretty much blown away but them, even at such a young age, living in Podunkville, and having NEVER heard anything but mainstream crappy music before. It pretty much changed my life, and it made me who I am today. I realise saying statements like that is a bit cliched, but I do really mean it sincerely. It changed the way I felt, the way I imagined and fantasized, they way I saw the world and the people in it, the books I read, the movies I watched, the clothes I wore, many other bands I got into... and so forth. It set me apart from others, which made me lonely, and still does, but I would not have it any other way. Too many people are sheep, and give into what mass media, corporations, and reality tv shove down their throats, and they lose the essence of what makes you unique and individual. Not every band or music is unique, and not all can effect someone positively. I can't say whether or not I would be who I am otherwise, The Cure or NOT...but I would like to think that distancing myself from the masses,(or the masses shoving me away because I did NOT conform), and allowing music (or whatnot) to perhaps bring out what was in me already, well here I am...but I suppose we all need that spark, to be ourselves, truly. I suppose The Cure was my spark, and I am imminently grateful to them for that. I will continue to be so for the rest of my life. Oh and my favorite song from this album is "The Kiss", and if I ever get the chance to hear it live, in concert, I think I will swoon and faint...

Deluxe Edition

I love kiss me kiss me kiss me, it seems like such a sunny album, which is the only way I could describe the album which is amazing since from the opening track it sounds like it might be another Pornography, all angry and bleak. It's not though, with tracks like Just Like Heaven, Torture and Catch all on here there are plenty of my favourite Cure tracks around. I look forward to the rare and unheard songs on the second disc, sadly there aren't any here but that's not an all bad thing. Instead we have early incarnations of a lot of the tracks from the album and then we've got some really good bootlegs of classic songs too, including the best version of Catch I ever heard. It's all good stuff.
