LOTS of tickets left for this show!!!!

Pretty funny I think, the Patriot Center show, in Fairfax, is really close to sold out, with very few tickets on broker sites, under 100, on most sites, and most second hand broker sites list the same tickets. However this show, only 2 to 2.5 hours away has tons of tickets left. Can still get 10 tickets in a row, about 5 rows up from the floor, albeit in the back portion, but still, would like to see this show packed with some die hard Cure fans!! Any thoughts? Looking forward to both the Patriot Center show and this one. And I am almost hoping I miss my connection in LA, due to their scheduling, and request they give me a round trip ticket to San Jose, so I can catch that show before I head home to Hawaii!! Aloha

Opening Act

The tickets say the show starts at 7. Is there an opening act anybody know of? And wasn't the whole reason they postponed the show from last year was because they were finishing up a new cd? Did they?
Thanks for the love.

Opening Act

The opening act was a musical treat! It was all an instrumental "wall of noise"... just like Mogwai, one of Robert's favorite bands. I think in fact, the very last they played song WAS a Mogwai piece. But it was a good choice to set the mood of whatever The Cure chose... which fortunate to all of us was "Plainsong", followed by "Prayers for Rain", then "Strange Days". Way to go boys!

Phili show set list - don't read if you like to be surprised

The show was AMAZING. 3 hours long. I am so thankful Porl is back with the band. And he looks totally HOT! I've really missed his energy and amazing guitar work. My only note of sadness is that this is the first show I've seen out of close to 50 shows that they didn't end with A Forest! They didn't play it at all!! But here's what the did play:

Open
Fascination Street
A Strange Day
alt.end
The Walk
The End of the World
Lovesong
Kyoto Song
Pictures of You
Lullaby
Maybe Someday
The Perfect Boy
From the Edge of the Deep etc.
The Only One
Push
How Beautiful you are
Inbetween days
Just like heaven
Primary
Never Enough
Wrong Number
One Hundred Years
End
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
The Kiss

I scored this set list from a really kind security guard. I'm listing the entire encore sets exactly as written on the sheet and will asterisk what they actually played. I'm wondering if this is a master list...at least hoping so...Please pray for me that they play Lovecats either in Boston or the two New York shows!!! It's the only song I've never heard live from their major albums. I know. I'm a dork.

Seventeen Seconds Encore (Didn't play any of these)
At Night
M
Play for Today
A Forest :(

Pop Encore
Lovecats
Lets Go To Bed
Freak Show
*Close to me - played
*Why can't I be you - played

Old School Encore
(played whole set)
*Three Imaginary Boys
*Fire in Cairo
*Boys Don't Cry
*Jumping Someone Else's Train
*Grinding Halt
*10:15 Saturday Night
*Killing an Arab (they closed the show with this)

Faith Encore
The Holy Hour
Other Voices
The Drowning Man
Faith
***

Friday I'm in Love
To Wish Impossible Things

Best to everyone!

almost 4got

the only negitive experance i had tonight was my section in the 400 level was closed off. which wasent right because they did not let us know that into we was heading to our seats and expected everyone to be ok with sitting farther away from the stage but i did complain and the staff at the spectrum was very rude like always but its not the cures fault at all and they finally gave me good seats but it was well worth the hassle the cure is a great band

missing song

P.S.
I think they played a new song, the title of which I have no idea towards the end of the first big set. Someone else will probably know what it is!! Sorry!
d

That was another strange thing. They only played 2 or 3 new songs!

Thank You !

I have been a cure fan for twenty years. This was my first Cure concert! I have been to hundreds of concerts and shows and seen tons of bands in my life and I honestly think this was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Robert Smith is unwavering in his devotion and integrity to his music and it shows live. I'm now making plans to see if I can get tickets to MSG in NYC. Thank you to Robert and the band for giving us the concert of our lives. GO SEE THE CURE!!

WOW, WOW, ZEN!

Philly, you will be blown away! I agree with the person's comments below completely! I was in a "nosebleed" section (but at the Patriot Center, it is so small there were NO bad seats), and there "was a moment in time" when Robert looked up our way with his amazing eyes and I felt like they were penetrating the audience to intensly "see" who came! It was very special.

The D.C. crowd was very subdued at first, but finally loosened up when they first heard "Lovesong" and recognized it (sad, but true). By the end of the night, the crowd's responses were thunderous and no one wanted it to end! I don't think Robert wanted it to either. My only other concert memory of him being this way was when we saw the "Bloodflowers" tour in 2000 at Jones Beach in Long Island. THAT was the most emotional, memorable performance for me. This was very close... THANK YOU ROBERT!

WOW

My wife and I attended the show last night at the Patriot Center. The best way I can summarize the performance.......
It surpassed all of our expectations! From the moment they took the stage and began to play, until the last song ended after midnight, time stood still.
What a performance! We were more than happy to hear so many songs from Disintegration (favorite album) Rather you have seats close to the stage (like we did), or seats elsewhere, you will thoroughly enjoy the performance. Thank you Robert and all, for the music you've created and continue to create with never ending passion.
Scott,
