The Cure: Best Band of the 80s

Hi there, following the NME God-like award, I'm writing a feature for new website (launching this week) called popjunkie claiming the Cure as the best band of the 80s.
As a long time fan, I'm confident in my claims, but I would really like a few quotes (which will be credited) from this very knowledgable forum about exactly with The Cure ruled the 80s!
Any help gratefully received!
