There is little or no press about it. One NME interview only. No TV media or press publicity and a huge 2 weeks for other releases. You see 'Snow Patrol' who's album came out the same day on Fiction Records doing radio interviews etc. The Cure did nothing at all on TV (well a very small TV advert late at night) or the Radio. No wonder its lost in the lower charts. If you don't promote it,its not going to sell buy itself. Only to Cure fans who buy it on day of release. Like I did.
I remember in the 80's 90 I had to buy every single music mag in the UK to read an interview and tape every radio show, TV show incase The Cure featured. Now, nothing at all apart from a really lazy NME interview that says little or nothing about the new album and only talks about how Goth the band are or are not.
I do really find it very odd to spend 4 years recording an album, release it and not follow it up with amy promotion at all. They could have done something simple like an instore signing at HMV day of release for example or some radio or TV interviews.
Sad but true.
BOYINORBIT65 - YOU have hit the nail on the head there. My brother (who is in media) is always interviewing idiot "talent" that waft through AUS, or doing phone interviews with some idiot 16 year old in a hotel room in some othr country........... he has to pander to the fickle market of the tweenagers that download the tunes (read ITUNES - hiss boo)and push the charts along.
The WHOLE chart thing is a debarcle anyway. The labels release on particular days, the stores ony stock and display certain items, it all comes from the label who BUY wall space.
The charts are run by the labels who "somehow manage" to get their talent played on the shows the tweens listen too - primetime - and then they buy it.

there is no truth. Fuk the charts, the labels manipulate them, then as a result of them, ignore bands like The Cure because they are not high enough up the charts, ans assume there is no interest.

Anyway, gone are the days of the music mag ingnighting interest. Smash Hits here in AUS doesnt even exist anymore, in the 80s, it was the bible to young music devotees...
RSX needs to continue with the good interviews, not lame arsed, self appreciating NME wankers, agreeed, the first part was all about the interviewer exploring his own thought about RSX and the notion that he was the founder of Goth - as if he had ANY CLUE....
You Tube and the internet is more accessed than mags these days. hit there. if i knew the answers, i would be a higly paid, happy person, not sitting here feeling stressed at having to go back to my job next year that gives me zero satisfaction anymore..............
