Hi guys,
just wondering who the youngest cure fan on the forum is? I'm 13, everyone seems to be like 30?? x

Hey TheCurexox, there is already a thread about being the youngest Cure fan but I'm qutie sure you are one of the youngest that I have seen post on here :) I'm sixteen and my Mum also think it's amazing that I adore them as she used to like their music when she was young and would dance to their music at clubs. She can't believe that I've actually seen them live, only a few weeks ago :) I called her during The Lovecats and held my phone out the whole time so she could hear. Reflections was absolutely extraordinary and they surpassed all of my expectations. It was actually one of the best nights of my life :)

Oh wow, your so lucky to have seen them live! Was that in Australia? Yes my mum thinks it's crazy she said I'm just like her when she was my age. I think it's a good thing, we always have something to talk about.

I'm 15 and I've been listening to The Cure since I was 14, so not all that long. I only know a few songs that aren't singles, otherwise all the songs I know are singles. I've only got two of The Cure's CDs, Staring at the Sea and Galore. So, yeah, I'm 15, nearly 16, my birthday's in October. October 2nd.

Hello Em147 and welcome to the forum :) How are you?

I also haven't been listening to The Cure for a long period of time but I absolutely adore their music. I am Sixteen and I first got into The Cure in late 2007/ early 2008, I went through a little phase looking up their singles on youtube etc but back then I only had three or so Cure songs on my iPod those being A Forest, Charlotte Sometimes and maybe Pictures Of You. But last year I started listening to The Cure again as I found their greatest hits cd in the radio room and borrowed it, then I looked up more songs on youtube and found singles I didn't know and then I discovered the dark, melancholic beauty of Plainsong and Disintegration (which I asked if I could have for my 16th birthday, my Mum got me the deluxe edition and it was one of the best presents I have ever got :D ) and since November last year I've collected nine of their studio albums, three live albums, a taped casette of Three Imaginary Boys that was my mother's with side b before side a and just recently I recieved the casette of Standing On A Beach and the brilliant book Ten Imaginary Years. The Cure are my favourite band and I find Robert Smith such an interesting, eccentric and fascinating person who writes the most beautiful lyrics. I was very fortunate and was able to attend Reflections on Simon's Birthday, which exceded all of my expectations and was just incredible.

Sorry for my little rant but who knows what effect The Cure's music may have on your life. I think it's brilliant that you like The Cure's music at fifteen :D What other music do you like?

I am rather glad my dad got me into The Cure. He said to me "Em, I know a band that will be right up your street," or something along those lines, "The Cure."
And they are my favourite band too. And I, like you, think Robert Smith is an amazing musician. Well, they all are really, but yes, Robert Smith is ace, lyrics, everything. And it's Robert Smith's voice that draws me to the music, really. They've grown on me since I started listening to them in September and they still are growing on me. The Cure have inspired two of my stories, one of which, I'm typing up for you to read, if anyone's interested in reading it. I know some people are.
And thank you for welcoming me to the forum, by the way.
Yeah, The Cure's music has an amazing effect on me, it would seem - my parents say I'm obsessed! But oh, well, at least they inspire me, they cheer me up when I'm depressed or whatever, keep the writer's block away... most of the time. I've got writer's block now, unfortunately. And I don't mind people having a rant, you know. As long as they're being nice, no bad language, you know, I'm happy for people to have a rant about stuff.
And as for other stuff I like: The Killers, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Undertones, The The, a lot of rock stuff really. I don't just listen to music. I play stuff on my keyboard too and I write my own stuff sometimes, even though it's not very good. Hey, but don't ask me for notes though, unless you mind stuff I've just played by ear. Because I can't read music, you see my dad and my brother play guitar. I think guitarists and bassists have it easy because if they can't read music, they have things called TABs and they're easy to understand and well, if you're playing piano or keyboard, if you can't read music, if you want to play stuff, you have to play by ear, which is alright, but just in case you do ask me, now you know - the notes I give you might not be the right ones.

...Em, there is a guy on youtube, Jay Brannan that lives in NYC that is a good guitarist/musician and he only plays by ear and he makes a living out of it, he tours through Europe and NA....decent tunes....check him out....

....my favourite Cure albums are really Bloodflowers, The Cure, THOTD, Wish, The Top....I think Robert looked the best during the Taking Off vid...I love the thick eye make up during this time, and Curiosa was a great festival...

...you're still young...there is no rush...enjoy life....take lessons somewhere or study chords on the net...Nirvana only played like 3 chords...most punk bands did....just do a search for his name, it'll come up...he is popular enough....get a YT account make some vids and do the ad sense for a little income...some people make a few cheques a year and some make $100,000 a year...it depends how you work it and how creative you are, you can't troll, not like I do here :) it is all love and roses over there....

...I am lost with guitar things, I do play some piano/keyboard and lately have been playing some Chopin...if you have a Mac, Garage Band has lessons you can purchase, I don't know for how much...as I don't use that feature, or even if you have to purchase it...but Garage Band is kind of fun, I have to upgrade my MacBook to '11, i still have '09...Macs are the best....

My eldest daughter, who is 18, has liked them since she was little! My other daughter is 10 & she likes them too, but only the jolly stuff! My husband has liked them since he was 15. I have loved them since I was 14, which means I have been a fan for 30 years! My black cocker spaniel, Bob, is sadly not a fan!

My son loves the Cure and has for a while. Of course that is due to the influence of his obssessed mom. Who knows if he'll really love them when he's older. (He's 5). One of his first words were "Ber Smee" which translates to Robert Smith. Not sure if I should be telling you guys this as it is probably a bad case of obssessive admiration spilling into parenting!

I LOVE the Cure and I am only 13. My phone went off in English by accident ( the ringtone was Lullaby) and no one knew who the rintone was except my teacher who then let me off because she loves the Cure too.

I honestly have to say that I think I am. I've been dancing to their songs since I was 6 and saw them live when I was 10. BEST CONCERT EVER BY THE WAY!
I saw them again when I was 13.
Their encores are the besttt!!!!!

Im 17 but have been a fan since I was 15. Wish my family would of loved them as much as be so I could of been a fan when I was younger, but now I listen to them I wouldnt know what to do without them. An amazing band with amazing members.

I'm 15, but I've been a Cure fan since I was around 11 or 12. I wish I could know more people my age who likes The Cure, but unfortunately, I don't know any :(
