Jason

He sounded pretty damned good on The Cure...and 4:13. 17 years? Everyone should just give it up and quit your idiotic bitching

Can't believe they didn't mention him re: Hall of Fame( overdue like a bitch).

Jason is The
Cure's Drummer.

And he's better looking than Lol and Boris.

( you don't need eye-liner Jason, Baby.)

XOXOXOXOXOOXO:)

Re: Jason

I agree with you, Glimmer.

I guessing that the RRHF is looking through their scratched up way-way-back glasses.

Sure Jason is excellent at what he does...
That remindes me of a nephew who was very proficient destroying his toys but everybody loved him sooo much... this what "Unconditional love" is.

Re: Jason

Jason has good things and bad things.

17 years have passed and he's still trying to adapt himself to the band and I wish he finds his way.

I remember an interview where RS said that Jason is refreshing--who are we to judge the styles of drumming chosen? If we want so bad to hear it a certain way, we can simply put the cd of the other drummer(s) playing on.

What? And you are from America?

We are the paying customer. We are the supporters of the band. We are the reason the band, ANY band, is successful. We are the fans.

Who are you ( or anyone else here who is a 'yes' person) to say anyone CAN'T voice their opinion? Just like Suzanne's opinion to love Jason, I nor anyone else, has a right to say she can't voice it.

Silly, just silly.

Unfortunately comments like that are why Americans have a reputation for being arrogant. We are lucky to have a band like The Cure. A band becomes successful for many reasons and fans follow them, not the other way around. I doubt Robert and the boys give a flying fuck what any of us think except for their own amusement, so by all means air opinions.

What, are you serious? Do you not understand that the only reason bands/actors are popular is because of fans? Granted, fans become fans because they like what they hear/see, but if there were no fans, there would be no "The Cure".

I agree, RSX could care less what we say, but there is no reason to limit what we say....

I'll start a new thread to expand upon this... but you know The Cure's popularity has steadily dropped over the years...

I think you are wrong and Robert & co. do care about critics and don't find them amusing. Just try to find in youtube, those videos were the errors and bad playing of Jason were pointed. They were deleted for "copyright claim by The Cure". The Cure themself asked YouTube to put them down. But as I found doing a Google search, they are still alive in other video portals.

I didn't say we couldn't voice our opinion, I just asked who we were to judge the playing styles. I don't play drums myself...from what I've seen of his playing he seems to give it his all, and tirelessly so. I don't think we're the reason a band is successful--it's their dedication and endless practicing, talent too, that makes them successful. I've made a few converts to The Cure, so in my small way I may have helped them, but I don't consider myself and folks like me the reason for their success...maybe a tiny bit...but that's only because I've got good taste in music.

We're not critics though and none of the threads you have written on or your posts have been deleted. In banging on about Jason you are only stirring up interest in the band and you might have sold them a few more records!

I liked this review of Bestival...

If by 'banging on about Jason' I'm stirring up interest in the band and making them sell more records, then I'm happy then!

I liked what Stylus said about Lawrence, Boris and Jason, in an article titled "50 greatest rock drummers":

"You could easily look at the switch between the Cure’s two definitive drummers as the fulcrum between the two phases of their career. Lol Tolhurst’s drumming was tight, economical, and unembellished, guiding the Cure through their post-punk and goth years with his crisp and dark playing, but by the mid-’80s, the band was moving on to bigger and better things, and brought on Boris Williams to fill in as Lol became increasingly unreliable. Williams’ drum work, pronounced, thundering and anthemic, was just what the band needed for the epic and commercially viable musical statements they’d make for the rest of the decade, through the early ‘90s. Then they brought on some other guy, and no one cared about the band again. Coincidence?"
