It was the start of a lifelong passion for this band!! plus i have seen them out and about in Launceston Cornwall many times. The last time i managed to see them live was at the NME awards in the O2 arena London when they were awarded the lifelong achievement award. apart from that i have seen them many many times around the country but I am proud to have seen them twice here in Cornwall the first at the Elephant Fayre and the second at the Cornwall Coliseum in St Austell back in the 80's.... ah good days :-)

Re: When was your first time seeing the cure??

I first saw them live at the Portsmouth Guildhall in 1984, when I was 17. They were being supported by And Also The Trees. I remember being squashed up against the stage, as there were no barriers up! My friend got badly trodden on & her foot was bleeding heavily & I was covered in black boot polish from someone's leather jacket, so we ended up moving to the back! We waited outside, at the end, hoping to get a glimpse of them leaving. After a while we were all told to queue up & they let us all back into the foyer, were Robert, Lol, Porl, Phil & Andy were all seated at tables, armed with red felt pens to sign autographs! I asked Robert for some of his hair & Lol pulled some out for me, then he proceeded to pull some of mine out too! All the guys signed the sleeve of my Top cassette. They were all very friendly, Robert was quiet, Lol was cheeky, Porl was very friendly & Phil & Andy just stayed in the background! We came out & went to the back of the queue & got to see them again! Porl spoke to me & gave me his paper cup, containing the remains of his red wine & gave me a kiss! I also pinched Robert's autograph pen! I remember going home, on the Gosport ferry, with a big smile on my face!

I didn't see them until 1989 at Wembley Arena. A mammoth of a gig, at least 3 hours long,or so it seemed anyway. No trains/tubes back to where I was staying in London at the time so just wanted the streets until the following morning.

Re: When was your first time seeing the cure??

17.05.1981 Newcastle - City Hall (England)
The Funeral Party, M, The Drowning Man, All Cats Are Grey, Three Imaginary Boys, Primary, At Night, Fire In Cairo, Play For Today, Grinding Halt, A Forest, Faith,
Jumping Someone Else's Train, Another Journey By Train, Killing An Arab, Forever

This is the earliest gig I can say for sure I saw. Although this surprises me as it means I had my tattoo two years prior to ever actually seeing the band live. I always felt I had seen them in Newcastle at The City Hall prior to this however I can find no evidence of any such gig. That's what happens to you memory as you get on a bit.
It was a truly unbelievable gig the atmosphere was awesome City Hall is quite a small venue with seats and everyone would clamber over all the seats and surge to the front of the stage filling all the isles. The ushers had no chance of getting anyone back to their seats, I don't think they tried.
I seem to recall that the band moved around very little, the dry ice filled your nose, and there was a quite hypnotic vibe to the gig, note perfect to the albums at that time. Really unmissable...

I saw them the first time in Houston, Texas in 1989. I've seen them twice since but have never gotten to meet them or even a glimpse of them offstage. I hope to one day if I should be so lucky. Maybe Someday? :)

The first time being in the audience of a live show was Tampa 1996: the night that changed my life forever & ever :-) I've seen them several times since then, but certainly it's never enough.

Melbourne, 2000. I went to see 'The Cure' without having Bloodflowers. I was totally blown away and the concert was absolutely brilliant. I actually feel blessed that I hadn't heard that album until that night. Afterward as soon as I could get to the shops I bought it and played it to death and then some more :)

The first time was in Barcelona during the Wish Tour“92... November 4, 1992 (Simon was ill and Roberto Soaves played the bass). That night was very special for me... unforgettable! I saw THE CURE 18 times. The last time at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Re: When was your first time seeing the cure??

First gig was on the Wish tour, autumn '92.
Then again at the one-off Finsbury Park gig, the following summer.
Then they took a couple of years off didn't they ???
Like many others, WMS didn't attract me, and when I moved overseas for a couple of years in 98,
I missed Bloodflowers (one of my favourites now)' and I only rediscovered them again a couple of years ago.
Luckily I got to the 'Reflections' RAH gig which was fantastic, and I'm all fired up for a 2012 album and tour!

Re: When was your first time seeing the cure??

I would say 1989 at Wembley arena, but my sister says we saw them in Bath before that, did they play Bath showering pavillions before 89? I have seen bands there but I have no memory of seeing the cure there! I can't believe I wouldn't remember it, although I did go to see loads of bands during that time, so she might be right!

The first time I saw The Cure live was during the Wish Tour 92 in Monterrey, Mex.

Every time they come to Mexico will be there.
