My little niece made this animation

She's 7 and she absolutely INSISTED on using Friday I'm In Love for the music. Nothing else would do. She's a fan.

I know. It's so cute. She's going to make another video but she hasn't started it yet. I don't know what she plans to do, but now that she knows the principles of animation a little and how to use the software she will do it for sure. Though, I kind of think she has Justin Bieber on the brain too. So, move over Robert Smith and make room for Justin Bieber in Courtney's heart :-D

It's gotta be someone or thing she finds inspiring, and if she finds Bieber inspiring at this age/stage of her life, so be it! I read a quote by Da Vinci today while filling out online college forms: if the spirit doesn't go with the hand you don't have art, or maybe if we don't have the hand along with the spirit then art doesn't happen...then we also have to believe that we can make something worthwhile too, if only to us sometimes! Did you ever see The Iron Giant? There's some good art conversations in it...Courtney may like it...it is a cartoon.. : )

The Iron Giant is one of Courtney's favorite movies, and my both my grandsons' too.

You should hear her on the piano. It's so cute. She doesn't think I'm paying attention, but I've tried to record her improvisational compositions a few times and they don't quite get the gist of her intense drama. She will play the piano...her way...and come up with the most fantastical lyrics EVER. It's so cute. She's sort of like a cross between Elton John and Tori Amos :-D
