Couldn't care less about live music?

Are you the kind of music fan who just listens to music as a solitary activity? By itself or while doing something else... You couldn't care less about going to a concert. Albums are enough for you. You satisfied with hearing the albums.

What are your reasons. For e.g., a reason might be that you might be from a different cultural background. Say you're a Pakistani (Tm). So you're a Pakistani who likes The Cure. It would be weird to go to a Cure concert.

Or you might not like the atmosphere. You're the solitary type. You can't convince others to come along.

Maybe you just think albums are better, music is good distraction, etc.

Re: Couldn't care less about live music?

I would have to say that I love albums. I like live music but can live without it.

Why? Probably convenience. I'm a Mum with a husband who has different taste in music and friends that live 2 hours away which keeps me out of pubs and such. I would never go alone. I make the best of what I've got.

Re: Couldn't care less about live music?

Live music for me depends a lot on the venue; this is why I don't do festivals. Even if I love a band, I'd be unlikely to see them if I'm going to be stood in mud all day with nothing to look forward to than a filthy portaloo... It also depends on the band itself, some can't play live for peanuts!

Re: Couldn't care less about live music?

I generally prefer albums, live music, for me, has to be from a band that sounds as good live as they do in the studio. I've been to some horrendous concerts where the bands sound nothing like they do on their albums/cd's. That for me is always disappointing! The Cure have honestly never let me down when seeing them live. The shows are always 3 plus hours and they sound absolutely amazing every time! I'm like Cats, most outdoor festivals are right out.. unless I have seats. No mud and no drunks falling into me!

Re: Couldn't care less about live music?

don´t agree at all!!!

think that live music has something that albums can´t give me at all. I tend to get quite introspective when listening to albums and get really emotionally....... at concert I feel the songs quite differently. Love the feeling of the base in my chest, and the pressure from the people around you. and you can get all the energy inside you out. actually songs like the kiss and most of pornography tends to hurt me in a weird physical way when i am just listening to them on album, but live I just let go.....

think i need to physically feel the world to experience it for a longer time. otherwise I get lost inside my own head.

And festival..... saw the cure at "Roskilde" this year, and the concert was sooooo great!!!! LOVED IT; LOVED IT; LOVED IT.
I don´t need any new albums from them, I "just" need to see them live 100 more times!!!!

Re: Couldn't care less about live music?

I definitely like the best of both worlds. With recorded music you can definitely hear every intended note and sound the way the artist wanted you to hear it and blast it right into your brain. With live music, for me anyway you get that sense of comradery amongst fellow fans. I may at times be one of those drunkards who bump into peeps at the end of the night tho. At least I'm a nice drunk :)
