Re: Hey...

I am off for 19 days, spent first day watching skyfall, pretty good, 18 days left and no I won't be needing any golf clubs, although paint brushes would be useful...and any tickets to see band of skulls!!

Re: Hey...

I've got 4 days with The Melbourne Cup long weekend. Any other country out there that gets a day off for a horse race?

Thanks Kitty Cats! I had an MRI today and got to listen to Wish for a bit! So lovely hearing Rob's voice, so comforting. The golf club spam has moved to the other parts of the forum, but they are still annoying! Hmm, is Skyfall the new Bond movie? I always wanted to be a Bond girl when I was little :)

No Ma'am, not here! I'm surprised we don't get a day off for the Presidential election though, its madness over here! Lots of mudslinging!

I suppose if the lead up is entertaining people will be likely to form an opinion and get off their arses and vote. So are you going to vote?

It's funny, every commercial is just one candidate attacking the other, who the hell knows where eachother stands on issues. One little girl on the news the other night was crying because she was so sick of the election. she just wanted it to be over. She is 4 years old! It's a big election this year, many feel let down by Obama. No jobs, bad economy, etc. I think it's gonna be close. we shall see...

The radio station I listen to interviewed a shop keeper in the U.S. randomly and apparently the lines were a 4 hour wait to vote. Yick. Are you happy with Obama? It is my wish for the U.S that they stop spending so much money on war.

Re: Hey...

You better go on voting !!!! and better for Obama! know the job situations is bad, but come one, the whole western world have those troubles. dont really thinks Obama has much to do with it.

I care more about the american election than I do about the one in my country. and I am even a member of one of the parties and support them financially.

I feel that Obama has inspired young people to vote and speak their minds through voting whereas an older, stuffier candidate wouldn't have the same effect. I was glad that he called the Iraq troops home (my brother was over there for 2 years and I worried every day for him). Jobs and debt are the biggest issues right now, and yes all places have those problems, but this is very much like the Great Depression of the 1930's. Some have been unemployed for so long that their unemployment benefits have run out! It's very sad. Tip of the iceberg..sorry to ramble :)

Thank goodness your brother got home safetly :)

I know the U.S. is in a bad way economically. I hope it gets back on track soon and life gets a bit easier.

Thanks Leah :) I feel that Iran is probably next, things are mucked up there and not getting better with them/us. There's no middle class anymore it seems, only the very well off or the lower class. I hope I can retire someday! haha! Don't wanna be working from beyond the grave! Haha! Thanks for caring! How are things going in A.U.? We never hear anything about the goings on there? Always wondered :)

Aside from the introduction of a carbon tax which is pushing utilities prices up Australia's economy is pretty good. The high aussie dollar against your greenback has forced many operations off shore. Australia buys stuff from China etc in US dollars. Retailers are only now reducing their prices mainly because of pressure from online sales. I buy quite a bit from the US. We have a very generous welfare system. They only cut your unemployment benefits if you are found not to be actively looking for work. those that are on them permanently with no intention of working are called 'dole bludgers'
