Beautiful Bootlegs

My head is spinning, trying to find all those rare bootleg songs I’ve read about in this forum. I don’t think I’ll ever catch up with you long-timer Cure fans.

Why isn’t there an official album of bootlegs…say, a best of bootlegs…going way back. By my thinking, The Cure doesn’t need to own legal rights to those recordings since bootlegs are made without legal authority in the first place.

At the moment, my favorite is "10:15 Saturday Night - New Pop Festival Rotterdam 09.09.1979."

What are your thoughts?

Re: Beautiful Bootlegs

ADDENDUM:
By "official" album, I meant a "Cure-authorized" release---NOT another bootleg.
Just thought I should clarify that.

Re: Beautiful Bootlegs

Now that would be a very welcome addition to a lot of people's collections, mine included! Sadly I can't see it ever materialising :-( We're still waiting for the dark album lol! And the next lot of Deluxe re-releases. And In Orange etc on DVD. Etc ;-)

Re: Beautiful Bootlegs

Hey!

Not necessarily bootlegs, but I've got some rarities kicking about if you (or anyone else) are interested?

* Doctor Robert's Surgery (can't remember the background to this, I just stumbled upon it! Mainly demos and rarities, including 'Forever' - though not the greatest recording)
* Lost Wishes (almost impossible to get a copy and virtually no one records tapes!)
* Back On (instrumental of Lost)
* Please Come Home (I think has been described as a piece that was incomplete from the 2004(?) sessions, but for the past few months I literally listen to it daily!)

A simple Google search should give you a bit of info, if not or if anyone would like them just say so.

Lost Wishes is beautiful. My mp3 copies aren't fantastic, and I don't have the means to convert the cassette to mp3. I'd love for Lost Wishes to be on the deluxe Wish when/if it's ever released!

We could all be naughty & combine our bootlegs ;-)

If there's anything I've missed or unexpected just say and hopefully some of you will also reciprocate!

For anyone that goes jumping on their high-horse:

(1) http://www.memecenter.com/fun/1043796/piracy
(2) The tracks I've shared are not easy to find (through purchase), we don't all have heaps of cash to splash on a CD for a song or two from someone selling it at ridiculous prices.
(3) I own every album. When I share music, I share that which is only available *through* sharing, because believe it or not one should not be defined through monetary purchases of entertainment products.

Sorry for the end rant, but it had to be said before the nay sayers get in.

Re: Beautiful Bootlegs

Wow, “Please Come Home” is such an incredible song that it’s hard to believe it was left out of an album intentionally. I don’t think I would ever have learned about this one on my own---thanks!
