Trilogy

What an amazing gig. The sound, video and everything was perfect!
I only wish that I had been there for that.

Re: Trilogy

I love the vibe of Berlin... I think they chose the right city for these particular albums. I would love to have been there for this!

I think the editing on the DVD was really fantastic (as it was also for Festival 2005) and I really appreciate all the little extras that they threw into the DVD, including the interviews and hidden videos. I can never read/see/hear enough Cure interviews because I love to hear them talk about what their creative process and how they feel about the music, their performances, all that. Thanks so much guys!

So Perfect! :) As they talked about in the interviews I wish they would play the entire KMKMKM album

Re: Trilogy

I love Trilogy. Once I got the chance, I locked myself up in a room and watched it. I lied on the floor like a little kid with my face propped up in my hands, hahaha! It's one of my favorite Cure possessions. I also love the interviews of the band at the end. For some reason, I wish they would do a concert playing THOTD, Wish, and 4:13 Dream all the way through. I also wish I could hear WMS played all the way through live.

I think WMS would be amazing live! :) I dunno if they would play Wish because of "Wendy Time" hehe, even though I like that song. If I had to choose it would be KMKMKM though, just because it is the longest album... and there is a 18 song set list. and then they could do some other favorites as an encore

I'm thinking KMKMKM

encore: Want, A Night Like This, High, The Walk, A Forest

encore 2: From the edge of the deep green sea, Maybe Someday, Fascination Street, Boys Don't Cry

Perhaps in Las Vegas?

Re: Trilogy

Since we're wishing... I'd love to hear Seventeen Seconds, Faith, THOTD, Wish, The Cure, and the NEW ALBUM all the way through... over a long weekend... kind of like the recent Las Vegas Pearl/Curechella extravaganza weekend... that would be the ultimate!!!! And if it was in Las Vegas, that would be really fantastic!

That would be an amazing show. Those encores would be great! KMKMKM would be a good album to do as well because of it's length and because it's so diverse too.

Me too! Trilogy is over the top!! I think I've memorized facial gestures at certain points of the songs - the camera angles are incredible! I was always so envious of anyone who went to these shows - it was over 2 nights, wasn't it? I get exhausted just watching Robert do Disintegration - I can't believe he can sing after that one - the intensity just blows me away!! I would want to collapse!! LOL!

Re: Trilogy

hmm. trilogy is good. no doubt. but the sound was NOT that brilliant like in orange or show...the six string sound in the disintegration set was horrible (burr) and robs voice in prayers for rain fucked up a lot. when you consider that theyve played each song twice, and that was even the better version, i dont wanna hear the other...anyway...

the best live sound was the bloodflowers set. the problem is, that i dont like bloodflowers that much as pronography or disinteration...the setlist was pretty static...ok, that would be no suprise...but finally i prefer a mixed setlist...

Hey kids....didn't anyone see the "Swing Tour 96" where they played virtually the whole album???
I was lucky....I saw them three times on that tour......and bought two different tees....which I hasten to add I still wear today....both with the clockwork clown on the front....and the Swing Tour dates on the back. A nice little reminder.

trilogy is a fuking amaizing concert-impecable-seen and listening "pornography" live is almost unreal-a trip to the past-the old days-it almost hurts-my cure masterpice- and of course desintegration and bloodflowers-high or with a couple of drinks... or both... is even better!-as the cure always is...and life...sometimes-love-henry-

Hey mate. :o)
I was talking about Wild Mood Swings.
However, I did see the Boys playing copious amounts of KM3 in 87/88.

Re: Trilogy

yah. JUST watched the 'secret' to the left over over push...ok there parts on the menu.

geese. took me a year to figure out i can be dull sometimes but this time i swore it were the batteries in the controllers fault. O! the piece where robert is off cue (in the extras) and looking around at the ceiling kind of giggly like, love it. it's like me at work.

i agree on the pick of the venue along with the songs; matched perfectly. the music was spot on, except for some songs... i thought the synth was a little out in front for my taste.

the robert cam was ridiculous! haha! he's such a tease in the beginning, it's so funny to me; like watching seinfeld. but um. he looks good, everyone looks good. except maybe perry. i don't really care for him as a member. just because. it seemed he was left out of the edits a lot.

um, simon is so strong in accent along with talking fast! to understand him i have to like sit there and read his lips when he's talking in the interview sequences. there should be closed captioning. wait! maybe there is? he's funny.

I liked the interviews, you get a glance at a personality behind the stage performance. it's endearing and clears up some questions.

like someone can do something amazing and all of these people start fathoming why and because and sorts. but really the ideas people come up with on their own can be interesting. REALLY the artist does it for a different reason. or maybe they hear the stories and say 'yeah' 'that sounds good' 'thats why' jk.

my favorite is um the loudest sound looks like robert is really into it, sad. same deep water as you is encompassing.

i think my least favorite is disintigration, sounds like robert is pushing it a little for the vocals, no doubt it is a windy verse. but it just isn't there yet on that one for me.

these guys all pulled it off nonetheless, i can sit and watch it all in one sitting. i like the fact they broke up the menu into songs. you sometimes just want to hear a certain one. this makes it easy instead of being like 'i think it's after this' shit no 'rewind' no foward' fuck where is it?

me being a designer though. i thought the menu and beginning sequence along with the font chosen for 'the cure' really don't do them much justice. i know this is meant to be in a colder berlin with a darker set of records than some other videos like in orange. but to me it should have had a little more personality to it; a less generic font and minimalism feel to the beginning. i think more obscure and wacky like, but keeping with the darker side. this stuff just wasn't CURE to me. in orange is my fav.

There's some info on the hidden goodies on Trilogy somewhere, I thought it was in this thread but can't find it. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I'm home alone for a few nights, so am going to whack the 5.1 on and lose myself for a couple of hours in Triolgy and Festival!

Yes... I bumped that older thread up to the front in the General Forum, but here's the info to find the hidden goodies on the Trilogy and Greatest Hits DVDs anyway. I haven't found a thing on Festival 2005 (love that one too!).

The Cure Greatest Hits DVD - Easter Eggs/Hidden Videos

1. The Caterpillar
-Go to the 'Song Select' menu
-Move the star icon to "The Walk"
-Press down, right, right

2. Close To Me Remix (very groovy!)
-Go to the 'Song Select' menu
-Move the star icon to "Close To Me"
-Press up, up, up

3. Pictures of You
-Go to the 'Song Select' menu
-Move the star icon to "Friday I'm In Love"
-Press down, down, down

And just in case you haven't found them, there are 3 on the Trilogy standard definition DVD (I'm not sure about the Blu-Ray version, I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet)...

The Cure Trilogy SD DVD - Easter Eggs/Hidden Videos

Disc One

1. Plainsong (special split-screen Robertcam version from both nights)
-Go to the Disintegration Set menu
-Highlight "Plainsong"
-Click to the left

2. Same Deep Water As You (Robertcam version)
-Go to the Disintegration Set menu
-Highlight "Same Deep Water As You"
-Click to the left

Disc Two

3. Band Interview Outtakes (adorable!)
-Go to the Interview menu
-Highlight "End of An Era"
-Click to the left

Cheers LA!

Have to admit my evening is a little frustrating cos I CAN NOT get the 5.1 sound to work on Festival. I've tried every menu an every button push in every different sequence, but can't get a peep out of it in anything but 2.1.
