CURE-chella 2009 Pictures

I never get tired of seeing great pictures of my favorite band. Do you have any favorite pictures from Coachella that you'd like to share?

It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!!! It took me over 5 hours to get to the front row, but it was more than worth it! My camera was brand new and I wasn't really familiar with it at all, so unfortunately I didn't get a lot of great shots. I'm looking forward to doing much better "next time"... :)

A few more Simons... I've manipulated this "series" into really contrasty, grainy black and white images. When I used to shoot film on my old Nikon SLR one of my favorite outdoor films to use was Kodak Ektagraphic slide film. It wasn't intended for shooting regular subjects - it was mainly created for the purpose of taking pictures of text in very high contrast black and white - so you could use it for titles and such. Anyway, when I would use that film outdoors to take portraits, they would turn out a lot like the last 4 in this series. The first one is pretty much the straight image from the camera, though I probably adjusted the contrast and/or brightness a bit to make his features a little more visible. Their stage lighting is so dark!

Those grainy ones of Simon are BRILLIANT.the last one where he is looking stright on........................... could frame that, very nice.

Thanks RH! I appreciate that! It's a little different, but I think it suits his style.

Here's a grainy one of Robert, Jason and Simon; a psychedelic Robert (for his groovy guitar style); and one more of the whole band for good measure!
After this, I'll post some CUREchella photos from other CUREtographers that are actually good!

I'm so glad you like them! I'm happy to share with other Cure lovers!

The one where he's looking right at the camera - that one especially - it really does look best in black and white and grainy like this. It's hard to say why. I can only say it just feels more like his personality to me.

These photographs are wonderfully moody! It's interesting how your perception of an image changes when it has been stripped down to black and white. The palm trees in the background almost look like fireworks!
