The Cure at ACL?

As I'm sure you CoF'ers are aware, RSX and Co. are being considered to replace The Beastie Boys, along with 46 other groups, some of musical persuasion, others not so much (Snoop Dogg, ect.) at this years Austin City Limits music festival.

I'm thrilled, as both my parents will be attending, and they have promised to fly me out there if The Cure do play. There are a total of 47 bands in contention; The Cure certainly aren't heavy favorites, but nonetheless they're looking pretty good at the polls.

And by the way Depeche Mode fans, Depeche Mode is also being considered (slide 43)

Hmmm, ACL...

I've been to ACL ('06). It's pretty fun and I love Austin. Nightlife is fun too (The Mean Eyed Cat!) .

Funny you posted this because I was just on the ACL website earlier today because I was interested in the line-up. A friend and I were talking about going .... I think, for me, if The Cure replaced Beastie Boys, this would be the deciding factor.

It gets really hot at ACL and by day 2 you wanna die... I like that they've moved it to October....not sure if that'll make any difference...but...

Off to vote...lol

I would go. It would take 16 hours to drive to Austin...maybe I'd fly.
Driving is much more fun though.

Quick update:

As of now RSX & Co. are in 3rd with 61.5% positive feedback
Ahead of them are Radiohead (63.2%) and Prince (63.3%)
