Re: Re: If The Cure were to perform each album live...which city best fits each album?cats_n_cheese wrote: ...Oh Cats, if you only knew...The Top is perfect for London, and it is the best, trippy album they've ever done..... ....I am giving away my age, which I never do, I look great for it, thanks to my mum, a Scot with great skin (and Retin A)...I was in London in 1984, what a Summer, a High School gift to my self shall we say...I spent 3 weeks, maybe 4...in a Uni Dorm that we (friend and I) rented out...I was 16 turned 17....that summer...I met another friend that just happened to be on a holiday/vacation at the time.....she loved Pete Townsend....and wanted to see his Eel Pie Studios.....I was like ugh....ok...so we did these drugs she smuggled in and got on the tube to Twickenham... ....well, it becomes a surface train after awhile....we walk and walk go to the studio and walk around like 4 times, it is round....and this guy comes out....and asks if he can help us....she said is Pete there...he goes no he is on holiday in Cornwall...so we go okay and leave....little did I know that Robert was there just 6 months before recording and stuff....not a big story, but every time I listen to the Top I see Eel Pie studios in my head...I am so grateful for that long train ride to go see that awful Pete Townsend, but great Studio..... ....I feel that the 1984 line-up is the best Cure line-up...I just think that they had an energy that was so palatable.....I love Andy's drums, and I do like Phil, I think the whole line-up, the music, the drugs, the timing, everything just clicked....I see vids of them and every performance is amazing...you can see it...but Roger is my fave next to Robert... ....so....London is The Top....one of the very best Cure Albums.... | |

I admit it took me awhile to even listen to it, but I was hooked the first time...I remember people in my highschool were like the new Cure is awful the older stuff (Porno, Top, Faith, etc) is better...no the Top is for purists really...awesome stuff... | |
