Anyone going to the Bestival?

Hopefully, I will be going & I will probably be alone! If anyone else from U.K is going, I would love to meet up with you, as I haven't been to a festival before & am shitting myself at the prospect!!!

I'm not sure yet, the £££ is the main issue for me, and where to stay! I'd be a festival-virgin as well, and port-a-loos scare me at the best of times!

There was a hint they'd play in S.America next year, so maybe they'll do N.America too?

do not hold your breath for that one, you'll asphyxiate unless you know someone connected to the band.

Re: Anyone going to the Bestival?

Hi for anyone coming to Bestival on their own or who is a little worried about the whole thing, I thought I'd pop up and say Hi. My name is Robin and I am an avid Bestival go-er (I've been to every single one) and I also am an active participant on the Bestival website forum and help run the forum campsite, which is part of the festival campsite where all forum posters can (if they want) come and camp together. I've also had the pleasure to DJ at Bestival a couple of times on my own and as part of a collective.

I'm not sure if people are aware but Rob Da Bank who runs and heads up Bestival is a massive Cure fan and he has been trying to book the band to play there for a number of years. I know many Bestival regulars are delighted that the band have finally agreed to play.

Bestival is a really fun and friendly festival with a great eclectic music policy. There are about 15 stages and loads of other things to do besides music - I recommend you visit the website at www.bestival.net to see everything that's there. It's a little bit like Glastonbury but only 1/4 of the size and much more manageable.

If any Cure fans are coming to Bestival on their own or want to meet up with a friendly bunch of people feel free to come to the forum campsite. If you go the message board on the bestival website you'll see full details appearing there as the year progresses. You'll be welcomed by a smiley and decent set of people who go to Bestival every year and are always ready to welcome newcomers.

I can't wait to see The Cure myself at Bestival - I've seen them 4 or 5 times in my life and seeing them at my favourite UK festival is going to be immense. They are going to be playing a full 2.5 hour set - not a 'standard' hour and a half festival set - so it promises to be a great weekend.

If you have any questions join in the conversation on the Bestival website and the regulars there will be only too pleased to help.

Roll on September....

Re: Anyone going to the Bestival?

Hi, I got to see The Cure and PJ too, but will probably have to go on my own. I'll fill out my profile or give a link to facebook. Going on my own is the only thing stopping me a ticket right now. Hopefully there's a lot of us thinking like this, we could all look out for each other maybe?

Re: Anyone going to the Bestival?

Hey. I'm going, and there's an outside chance I'll be going alone. Fickle friends and that. May look a bit sad, but it's better than missing it.

I've been to plenty of festivals so I know what to expect and what are the essentials to take. Will report back closer to the time.

Alex.

Re: Anyone going to the Bestival?

I am going with my 15 year old son. First festival for him.

I have room in the car for 2 passengers so please feel free to contact me if you need a lift. I am located in Newbury, Berkshire, UK and will be going down Thursday at about 5pm and back Monday morning. You will need to pay for your own foot passenger ticket on the ferry and get to a location where I can pick you up. Newbury or Thatcham Station would be ideal.

I can probably get you home too if you don't live too far away or live somewhere in between Bestival and Newbury. .

Re: Anyone going to the Bestival?

Hurrah!!!

Tickets have arrived, wellies are dusted off, B&B is booked, extortionately-priced ferry ticket stuck to the fridge, flushable loo seat covers packed, best friend grizzling about the time he has to get to my place to set off.

I think I'm good to go.

Unfortunately, I won't be going to Bestival. But I am hoping that Bestival will go well for The Cure and they enjoy it [and I hope those of you who are going enjoy it too] and they play at Chester Rocks next year.

My son and I will be there. A good place to stay will be in the Bestival Forum Camping field. Visit the Bestival forum and find out more. It will be a good place to meet other people who are on their own.
