Which era do think the band had the sound or the look that you LOVED the most?

Since I have such a hard time picking Cure favorites, I'm going to make it easy on myself and say... The Simon Gallup Era!
7/12/2009 3:11 AM (GMT-04:00)
That is so difficult to answer. I really love The Top era. I think The Top is probably my favorite album overall. However, I also love Seventeen Seconds through Pornography. There are qualities from each of the eras that are special. I think look-wise, 1984 is my favorite year for Robert. For Simon, I really like 1992. For music though, I can't really choose. But if I had to, it would be 1984 for The Top.

Also my thought!

my favorite era has to start in the 80s, then the ninetys, then the one with that girl from republica .

The Golden Era mid-80s to 89

Ooh, has to be late 70's vs. early 80's!
7/21/2009 8:06 PM (GMT-04:00)
the early 80's and then disintegration and bloodflowers

I have been a Cure fan for over 25 years now and I haven't seen much of a change in Robert Smith's trademark look with his smeared red lipstick, black eyeliner, pale complexion, and artfully disheveled black hair. Still hot for just turning the big 5-0 in April of 2009. My favorite Cure era would be the Post-Punk era the late 70's to the mid 80's.

Agree on this one.
My first Cure album was the 2004 album so I started to get into The Cure around then, so the 00s play a part in my favourites as well.

Yeah.. I couldn't agree more, really!
My first Cure album is Dis and then KMKMKM. (HOTD is later..)
These albums are changed my heart's depth and width gone deeper.

I also love the Lovecats era :)

Yep! Definately dark brown! I have some, so I should know!
7/23/2009 8:25 PM (GMT-04:00)
Okay, dark brown, black. Robert Smith described his hair "very, very dark brown. So dark one could almost say it's black. In fact, it does look black, but it's not. It's very, very, very...dark, dark brown. Almost blacky brown. Or browny black." His words. It's been black and dark brown in the past. Maybe you're thinking most recently. I am talking about over a 25-year span where his hair has been black in the past.

I totally agree with this.

You really should will it or donate it to science so he can be cloned someday ::sigh::

Between than and now, is my favourite era.
7/30/2009 4:36 PM (GMT-04:00)
I think my favourite era that draw me first to The Cure was Bloodflowers (and Wild Mood Swings, but there was a big gap in tastes) , then i went backwards, starting from the first to the last.

1979 - 1982 saw them 3 times live, listened to as many radio shows that would play them, caught the bus from school at lunchtime to a record shop in Fareham Precinct with my saved up dinner money to by their records, I liked the first few singles but A Forest was the real hook for me and Pornography sealed the deal.

It's really tough to decide, every era is somehow special... but I think I'd choose the 79-83 period.
8/9/2009 4:43 PM (GMT-04:00)
all of them

Different eras for different reasons, really..
6/3/2010 9:11 AM (GMT-04:00)
The Disintegration era.
6/26/2010 6:53 PM (GMT-04:00)
Wish -overall sound of the album and the awesomeness of the b-sides (THIS TWILIGHT GARDEN!)
6/26/2010 10:03 PM (GMT-04:00)
The 'gothic' era, as someone described it; Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography are just amazing to listen to. I think it's about the most eloquent descent into darkness I've ever heard.
6/27/2010 1:38 PM (GMT-04:00)
The era from 17 seconds up to Wish is my favorite. Things slowed down after that , one album in 4 years as opposed to 1-2 years.
6/27/2010 1:44 PM (GMT-04:00)
Been a Cure fan since the mid 80's. Favorite era:
7/1/2010 4:30 AM (GMT-04:00)
1983-1984 Top era
7/9/2010 7:39 PM (GMT-04:00)
1982 - 2000 without exceptions. And yes including WMS and The Top which are still not as popular as hey deserve to be - even among fans.
8/2/2010 10:16 AM (GMT-04:00)
jones the steam
take those stupid trumpets out of wild mood swings and i'd be ok with the whole lot, but as that lp sits between wish and bloodflowers i'll stick with the faith/pornography/top years, damn, lovecats, rethink.. erm..
8/4/2010 9:36 PM (GMT-04:00)
I am going to say Pornography, Disintergration, and Bloodflowers. They compliment each other on the sound and theme.
