New versions of old songs

I am of the same vintage as The Cure and have only recently started really listening to their music!!

I much prefer their modern versions of their songs (as played on you tube at the NME awards and in NEW YORK in 2008)

Can anyone tell me if a modern LIVE CD has ever been produced? or if not what is the best CD to buy?

Also when are they touring again?

Thanks.

Re: New versions of old songs

I've been a major Cure fan all my life, almost the same vintage as them! I dipped out for about a decade, but have recently rediscovered my love for them. I can't believe they toured so much last year and I didn't get my shit together, there doesn't seem to be any news on an upcoming tour.

I thnk the most recent Live album is Festival from 05, which is terrific. Trilogy is good too, although it covers Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers so starts way back and goes forward to the early 90's.

You really should check out 17 Seconds, Faith, Pornography, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, Disintegration (or Entreat, the live version) though, these to me are their highlights.

Re: New versions of old songs

as rob comes around with his idear of making deluxe versions of their albums i thought they remastered the old versions (cd1) and completely recorded the old songs new. not like mixed up (dance-versions) even a newer interpretation of their old day material (cd2). better produced, with roberts sexy aged different voice. mabye some parts played harder, others softer etc...the whole deluxe cd2 is completet uninteressting for me...

Re: New versions of old songs

If you're fond of dark Cure, definitely check out the "Trilogy" live in Berlin DVD... They perform the whole of Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers, with a rather heart-stopping updated version of "The Kiss" as an encore...
