I read an interview with RSX around the time of the self titled album and he talked about this song saying it wasn't about that..
But I mean, what else could it mean?!??

I even went as far as to ask him this in the 'Ask Robert' opportunity we had (whick never came to light)..

2 Late and Cut Here are two big ones. I think the happy-sad duality on both of those songs makes the pain that much more acute.
Strangely, The Same Deep Water As You hasn't ever made me cry, and I doubt it ever will. It's a beautiful song, stirring and lonely and majestic, but somehow a little too magical and substantial to ever apply to my drab little life.
Disintegration. The final chorus is heart-breaking, and when Robert sings those last two "...how the end always is..." I just break down. I know the feeling of trying, trying so damn hard to keep things together, keep my dreams together, even though it's all falling apart and I'm hurting too much to even think, but I keep on clinging because I'm afraid to let go. This song captures that perfectly.
The Reasons Why. This song is so compassionate, so tender...as a person who has gone through suicidal phases, it tugs on heartstrings. I mean there's none of that 'live because god says you should' or 'people will miss you' crap. It's almost like Robert himself is reaching out to you, to tell you that it's ok to feel the way you do...just magical.
There are other songs I listen to on the darker side of the spectrum which you might say are 'sad', but these are the ones which really, when the moment hits me, has me bawling like a broken-hearted child.
It's strange, though, because though these songs make me hurt, they're not really inflicting pain. It's like they're drawing up my own pain and sucking it out of me. At the risk of sounding cliched, the music really is transcendant. It's literally saved my life.

none of cure songs could make me cry, even when I listen to the most depressed of them it makes me feel better, and the saddest ones sound so harmonic, that it just calms me down..

I've actually been surprised that so many other sad songs haven't made me cry. Some of the lyrics are just . . . yeesh I can't explain it. And the only time Treasure made me cry was the first time I heard it. Never after that.

depends on the moment really..sometimes they do sometimes they're simply beautiful songs

however today i cried rivers over from the edge of the deep green sea, other times i cried - for different reasons - with charlotte sometimes, apart, trust, last day of summer, untitled, the same deep water as you, M, one hundred years, play for today

I just love the music of The Cure of the period before 1989. and also Robert Smith looks awesome in those videos. I've come to this site just to see and to hear much more things about this period, an another, thing, excuse my language, but my mother tong is french so I do my best to speak in english, but i might have left few errors. love to all

A Thousand Hours-The very first time I listened to it, I got all emotional & teary! I had just fallen in love, for the first time & we are still together now & have been married for 17 years! :-)

1.To Wish Impossible Things, because it reminds me of the death of my rat, Durga.
2.Breath, because it's just breathtakingly beautiful and sad.
3.Disintegration, because it's just overwhelmingly emotional.
4.It Used to be Me, because it hits very close to home at certain times.
5.Closedown, for the same reasons as 4.
6.High, for different reasons at different times. But usually because it reminds me that I will never be anything more than myself.

'Pictures of You' - I was driving along in my car, minding my own business and that tune suddenly popped up on Ye Olde iPodde. For some strange reason, I just burst into tears! I'm single at the mo, and I just got really mopey at the thought that I haven't got anyone 'significant' in my life. I LIKE being in love!!!

'Sinking' - Why? Gawd knows, I just love, love, love that tune anyway. You know when you get that whole 'massively happy-sad' thing going on when you hear your favourite song played live - and it's just HUGE? That kinda thing...

Untitled has done this to me in a rather unexpected way.
Normally i'm not the type where it really can happen like that, and I had disintegration since I was 16, but suddenly 12 years later, it hit me.

That's difficult because i cry when i'm sad but also if a song touches me in a good way. I guess I cried a lot with 'Trust'

This Twlight Garden, that was my girl and I favorite song. We had long distance relationship, so we used to send song across the miles, and e-mails with mostly Cure songs on them.

I think that there're a lot of songs that make me cry for many reasons, even crying from being happy e.g. The Lovecats. I don't know why but this song and its video introduce me to being happy like I would be on drugs. It's fantastics. Anyway, another kind of crying, from being sad, heh. Every time when I hear Pornography, especially Cold I close myself in my own world and I'm crying, it's just sth like being depressed.

I am pretty sure that I have cried over EACH song at one time or another, some more than most. APART, LIKE COCKATOOS, IT USED TO BE ME each make me actually start to sob. I'm a tad bit Emo :-D

I CRY WITH ALL OF THE CURE'S SONGS.

"Cut Here" and "There is no if" are the songs that make me cry every time I listen to them.
But I also cry with their Happy songs such as "Mint Car". That's because it makes me so happy (when I listen to: "Say it will always be like this! The two of us together. It will always be like this, forever and ever and ever...") that I want to cry. So they bring me happy tears.

I also cried the first time I heard the "Letter to Elise", And that's because my name is Elise, and it was like I was listening to the love of my life telling me all these things that Robert says on that song. And Robert Smith IS the love of my life. :')
