Three Imaginery Boys.....

Call me a fool but this is one of the hardest albums to listen to, to me, i know the band all so young and that the album wasn't made with the happiest of vibes for RS, they were just happy to make an album and used it as a learning curve........but to me its not the most enjoyable of listens....

i agree, it has that debut album feeling that most debut albums have, where you can tell this is there first try at recording music, but it's still has some great moments in it.

Re: Three Imaginery Boys.....

I don't listen to it much. Only a few songs (Fire in Cairo, Grinding Halt, Meathook). But I do like that they play some of the songs in the encores at shows. I guess one has to remember that it is a debut album, and those are almost never in the better batch of albums from an artist. But, this album shows you just how much The Cure matured over a year and what a different sound Seventeen Seconds is.

Re: Three Imaginery Boys.....

I actually love Three Imaginary Boys, but, as I stated in my "Boys Don't Cry or Three Imaginary Boys" topic, I do think it's missing a certain three tracks which they released at the time. Perhaps "Boys Don't Cry" might be worth checking out if you find it tough to listen to? There are some brilliant tracks on here but it might be more accessible to you with the singles to break them up a little.

Though it's one of Robert's least favorite LP, I love it. Reminds me of when I first started to listen to The Cure many, many years ago. Brings back fond memories, that's for sure.

Re: Three Imaginery Boys.....

Three Imaginary Boys is a nice introduction to The Cure I think, even though the finished album wasn't what Robert wanted. The producer chose different songs to what Robert wanted. (Who leaves out Boys Don't Cry???) But you can still hear where the Cure are going to go on this album. It's pretty good for a debut.
