ESTABLISHMENTS PLAYING THE CURE?

Do I have a special gift of walking into a place and The Cure happening to pop up?

Whether I'm at the grocery store picking up milk or in a bar ordering a drink; even the dentist ha. The Cure ALWAYS start playing?! My friends are amazed at this. Anywhere I walk into more often than not a song comes on of them?!

Strange coincidence...or do they get more airtime than I think?

DO you think these places pick the music themselves and that's why? I have no idea. But next time I'm strolling into some store not paying attention most likely...pop they come on and i perk up and give a smirk.

I hope they are getting paid for all these plays;)

Hi Kim! I always hear The Cure when I'm out and about, too! I heard "Never Enough" the other day in Trader Joes and I started dancing in the frozen food aisle. It made me so happy! That's the first time I've heard THAT song in a commercial establishment. Usually it's Lovesong or In Between Days or Pictures of You or something, so that was a very nice treat! :)

Most places have a satellite commercial music service like DMX or Music Choice (like consumers have with subscription cable/DBS/multichannel video service). They do get paid, and here's how that all works, or is supposed to work:

The all-time best for me was last year, though, when my anesthesiologist BLASTED In Between Days in the operating theater for me when they wheeled me in for breast surgery at Cedars-Sinai last May. That was the best. He had it on his iPod because he was a Cure lover as well! :)

Yeah! totally right? I've heard it in Trader's too before ahhaha! Today I was in Gelson's grabbing hot chocolate on a break from work and "close to me" came on. Random?

O I see how it works...thanks for explaining and posting the links.

I actually remember you posting this fact about your breast cancer operation and how the song helped you through the nerves. I hope you are still cancer free! Cedars-Sinai is a great facility, I hope you are well taken care of.

I work for an event planning company that does non profit cancer fundraising for some of our events. I deal with cancer everyday in my work:( It's hard to read the stories and look at the even photography sometimes (very emotional). especially the little kids with their signs for mommy or daddy ack:((

Take care of yourself! I just got over a really bad case of Pneumonia and am still recovering from it. I quit smoking for a month already because of it. Self care is important and don't run yourself down!!! Anyhow, when I was soooo sick I watched Trilogy and it made me feel better even know i was in really bad shape.

I know what you mean. But what you had to go through was extremely more difficult though you brave soul!!

This seems to happen to me all the time too. The Cure always comes on the radio when I'm in the car as well, or will come on my friends ipod on shuffle when I'm around. My friends call it my "cure magic" :) Once while driving home I drove by my roommate who said when I drove past them Cure came on their ipod in their car. ha!

In York there's this cheesey bar with a dancefloor called "the willow" And they allways play old and new songs and they also play lovecats and friday i'm in love, they give you free prawn crackers also so smiles all around ahah :)

Last spring my family and I went on vacation to Los Angeles and Las Vegas-- there were a lot of places there playing the Cure. Even some fancy restaurant in Beverly Hills. Best vacation next to the spring before when I saw the Cure at the Pearl in Vegas.

Even autonomic has them as an influence at the end of layer 1.

Layer 5 is really good imo. You can get them at:
