The Cure Unplugged

Anyone know if there's a chance of the Cure's Full Unplugged performance ever seeing the light of day as an actual CD release? One of the most memorable performances of the cure (Kazoos? Toy Piano? Bongos? Yes Please. "The Blood" on this is stunning.) And the "acoustic" bonus CD with the greatest hits , despite Boris on Drums, just isn't as good as the "original"

I've been listening to a cassette recording dubbed from the VHS I taped off the original TV airing. Needless to say the sound quality is wretched.

If there's any MTV unplugged that should be available besides the Nirvana (also amazing reinterps of the originals) than this is it.

With In Orange getting a DVD pressing, shouldn't This too?

Just sayin.

Re: The Cure Unplugged

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!!!! This would be SUBLIME.

The "Acoustic Hits" on their Greatest Hits DVD are quite nice, too. I'm very glad to have those on DVD!

I'd love to see them do more of that sort of thing: shoot video in the studio when they're recording. Like they did for the 2004 self-titled album. I love the video they included with the special edition CD. It's fantastic! The atmosphere they created in the studio with the carpets and candles reminds me a lot of that 1991 MTV Unplugged appearance, actually.

That's not an official release though. I saw it as a bootleg in the mid nineties of last century. The market was flooded with all kinds of bootlegs back then.

The original poster asked for a full umplugged performance on record, that's what this record is and it is marked as a Promo Only Copy so of course is not an "official" release. BTW Robert is a great cure bootleg collector himself and bootlegs have been around for a long time and will be around for a lot more.

And let me ask you, are u less than 10? that way of talking sounds like u weren't even alive in the 90's... "mid nineties of last century"

Re: The Cure Unplugged

That Promo only/Bootleg sounds great.

but.

I know there were more than 6 songs performed on the unplugged set.

Their were those six aired on the broadcast:

1. Let's Go to Bed
02. Just Like Heaven
03. The Caterpillar
04. The Blood
05. Boys Don't Cry
06. The Walk

Plus at least 3 others (excerpts on play out etc)

07. A letter to Elise
08. If only tonight we could sleep
09. Lullaby

It was such an innovating concert, on par with nirvana's, in re-versioning of their songs. just don't understand why MTV didn't release this being that the cure was at the top of their popularity at the time...

A DVD of the whole thing would be marvelous.

Re: The Cure Unplugged

I have 'Accoustic Daze' and have seen some of the songs performed on the 'Playout' video..

I love that 'definative' version of Boy's Don't Cry and always cry with laughter whenever I hear the 'kazoo version' of The Walk!!

A real gem!

As for a CD version of these songs? I'm really not sure..
One can only hope Playout is released on DVD/Bluray..

I know all this and I'm not 10 years old. English is just not my native language. I will not venture to guess your age but going by your shallow comment I hope YOU are 10 years old as that would explain it.

BTW It's 'unplugged' and not Umplugged.

Jajaja I think this makes it funnier, as it makes your original post and this one more shallow if that's even possible and irrelevant as you haven't added anything useful to this thread. Anyone who posts in thecure.com has at least glanced once at the official list of records, knows what a bootleg is and read the posts. You just tried to dismiss my contribution to the thread for posting the name of a bootleg.

I never claimed it as official (God forgive us all for buying stuff not released by the record labels), just pointed out to the OP to this record since he said he's been listening to cassettes recorded from the original TV airing. I considered it a full uNplugged record since it contains the same set played on the aired show, but as Hayhook has pointed out there were more songs played that evening.

As for me, well I'm 35 and been listening to The Cure for more than 20 years.

As for the typo, well N is right next to M in the keyboard, and even native English speakers make typos. I'm not one of them (native) as my mother language is Spanish. And you had to find something to criticize, that's the attitude of a 10 y.o. I was just yanking your chain as they say.

Que tenga un buen día Señor!
