Transfer active threads to appropriate new categories?

Is there a way we could transfer currently active threads from the "general" board into appropriate new categories?

...or do we need to pretty much "restart" those topics in the new areas?

It would be cool to be able to continue some of the ongoing musical discussions in their proper new spots.

Maybe it could be a drop-down menu choice available to the person who originally started the thread?

It's just an idea... I'm sure BP or someone more technically-oriented might know if/how that might work.

Thanks again!

Re: Transfer active threads to appropriate new categories?

I think moving threads to the appropriate categories should be done by the admins or MODs of the site. When the thread is moved it should still show in the old category but show "moved to..."

I think you're right! Thanks for adding that!

There are way too many threads in the current "general" forum for them to go through at this point, though, so maybe they could give us a "flag" feature, similar to what's done on Craigslist. That way, if the thread is currently active and users are still posting in it, they could flag it as "miscategorized" for the mods to move.

Thats how it works on OMB's so cant see why it wont work here. Except dont think mods or admins really bother here from what i've seen.

That's exactly what I was kind of getting at... I think if we had a flagging system it would at least make it easier/faster for a part-time or infrequent MOD, if that's what we end up with again.
