I have heard that Robert is doing a duet with Lady GaGA!! Please tell me it isnt true? No one seems to know the truth on this. Does anyone here?

Thanks for responding to my question. I sure wish i knew the truth but if you havent heard anything than maybe this is just a terible rumor being started to wind us up!! I just certainly hope it isnt true. It surely doesn't sound like Robert so I imagine it is not true. again, thanks for your response.

I was just sent a message board off of www.cureconnections.com which talks of upcoming duets and right there bold in your face is a picture of Lady GaGa and Robert Smith and the paragraph underneath says that they are working on a duet together of a cover of a 70's song. It also states that fans of Robert and The Cure are upset about this and state he should be spending time with his band and not dueting with the likes of Lady GaGa. Go to the site and look it up. Disturbing!! Very disappointing to see.

i dont have any issue with GaGa really, so i really dont care but it sounds like an interesting story. But most likely just a story hun. I couldnt find what you were talking about on the link you gave us. could you give a more direct one?

Well, my friend and i have been looking more closely at this site and page of Robert and GaGa and we think it is some sick prank pulled as an April fools joke which relieves me deeply. I know alot of you do not have issues with Lady GaGa and i respect your opinion but i feel like Robert and Lady GaGa are from completely different generations of music and they do not compliment each other whatsoever. and to be real about it, Robert writes very poetic and deep, meaningful lyrics while Lady GaGa writes teenybopper stuff with no meaning really. i am just old school all the way i guess and just couldnt imagine Robert doing this. but this is my opinion here and do not want to upset someone else who likes Lady GaGa. i mean no disrespect whatsoever. but here is the link if you would like to see it for yourself and make your own judgement call. www.cureconnections.com/cure-chat/7631-next-robert-smith-duet.html Sorry for the commotion. just a dedicated Cure fan , that is all.

I LOVE Lady Gaga. She's controversial and talented kinda like Madonna was in her day. One of my favorite things is dancing and her music is mean pop and catchy great for moving to LOVE IT! Check out this video...the dancer(locker) Lockedelic from Paris is featured in it.

Well, no, I must agree that Robert and The Cure have not always written deep, meaningful lyrics throughout their career. But it is called growing up and maturing. They started writing songs with true meaning to them as they matured as a band. But as a Cure fan for 26 years now, a dedicated one at that, I for one would never call their songs absurd. They certainly had a sense of humor in their younger days but absurd, No. And as far as pop music goes, ok, it is meant to be fun. I get that. I am just not a fan of it. And I am NOT a fan of Lady GaGa. But as I have said before, I am not putting her down or her fans down.I am not a disrespectful person like that.I always respect a person's choice of music.To each his own. I just dont agree with a duet between Robert and Lady GaGa and I personally hope that it never happens. And again, their music is so far apart from each other in sound and lyrics. But again, my opinion. I am just a dedicated Cure fan. Peace.

I know this is an old topic, and probably resolved by now...

WHY is it so upsetting for your favorite artist to duet with another artist you don't care for?

And why is it so bad for Robert to duet with Lady GaGa? It's a song! LG's music style, the whole genre actually, are not my favorite. But she is a very intelligent, and very talented woman. I personally find her very fascinating and have read and heard interviews. A lot of her lyrics ARE meaningful, you just have to know what you're listening for.
She also happens to be a huge Cure fan...

I am pretty through with this subject really. I got tired of people arguing with me about this subject and really regretted putting it up. Not the response I expected I guess. But I am just not a fan whatsoever of Lady GaGa. I do not like her music or what she stands for. It is so not me. If she likes The Cure, then that is great but it doesnt change the way I feel about her or her music. I am just a die hard Cure fan. Have been for 27 years now and nothing will sway me from that. I just dont personally want to see a duet with them. I think it would be a step down for Robert. He has achieved his success on his own. He has never needed a duet. And the Banshees dont count on this. That was just Robert taking a break and trying something new and different but that was many years ago and he has achieved the success he has today on his own and through his fans. I have nothing against fans of Lady GaGa. Dont take me wrong on that. I believe we are all individuals and to each his own. I just didnt want to see Robert and her together on an album. But that is me. If you find intelligence in her music, then so be it. I personally dont. Again, my opinion. I am not looking to argue with anyone over this anymore. To each his own ok!! PEACE!!! :))
