Any news on 2011 releases? Dark Album, Remasters?

Does anyone have an inline to what's coming from the Cure this year (if anything)

Eagerly awaiting The Wish Deluxe package and Mixed Up Deluxe

The So called "Dark Album"...

I thought these were to drop last year, and yet... nothing from RS but a great Crystal Castles remix.

Some news, any news, would be nice...

I'd really like to know, even if there isn't any new material due to be released this year, whether they might preview some of it at Bestival (or in South America - if that's confirmed)

It's awfully quiet on the new album. Will it be another 4 year gap ? I wish they'd release an album every year like in the old days.

When did The Cure release their last album? What was it called? Sorry I don't know my stuff, I've only got two CDs with singles on them.

It was 4:13 Dream from 2008. It was ok, not their best work in my opinion but there are a couple of good songs on there :-)

Robert and band (mainly Robert.. :p) have actually had quite a productive 18 months..

Once Bestival is done and dusted the can turn their attention elsewhere..

Don't give up on them just yet..

Possible 2012 release it will be according to the hot press review. But it's perhaps pretty late to get started on a new album for a 2012 release ? Didn't they have almost 2 albums worth of songs in 2008 ?

For me 4:13 was their best work since Wish.

They wanted to release 4.13 as a double album but Universal threw a spanner in the works (as they have done repeatedly on several occasions).

So I guess the question is.. will those remaining tracks still be relevent? As obviously there have been a number of events happening since then..

We'll just have to wait and see..

I wonder what it means if Robert says they are avoiding discussing the new album.
Do the other members feel the Cure are done , do they lack the drive to give it another go ? How should we interpret it ?

That's how I interpreted it, that the other members aren't that bothered about the old songs. As fattyowls said, the songs may not be relevant for 2011/2012 as they were when thy were written. From what I gather, it's a very personal, cathartic thing, writing songs, especially if it contains personal writings. If old songs are released as new, it might not mean the same for the band members.

It would be a pity to see them go to waste or have a full album of demo instrumentals.
The used old song ideas on 4:13 so why not for the dark album , if a song is good its good.

What would be a pity is a "new" song that was played fairly regularly in the US leg of the 4Tour not be officially released.. A song that touches on what Cats said above. This one is just too good to stay in the archives..

It's been played about a dozen times that I've come across.. Mexico, Houston, Oslo ,Stokholm, Berlin and yes Prauge.. Here's a much better one..

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad that the song didn't make an apperance on 4.13 after seeing it played (fairly) extensively during that tour..
Especially after the fact that us Aussies didn't get a taste of the new tracks, they didn't start appearing until the later stages of the 4Tour..
