How often do you listen to The Cure?

Two weeks is the longest I’ve gone without listening to The Cure. Two weeks, and then after that, I listened daily—it was like I rediscovered them.

What about you? How often do you listen to The Cure and what was your longest break?

(This topic was probably already discussed sometime in the zillion-year history of the forum, but humor me and post a reply anyway… I’d really like to know.)

I've not listened to the Cure in a few months now (prepares to get banned from forum). I've been getting into some other bands recently

Re: How often do you listen to The Cure?

Before I saw them in concert again, 14 months ago, weeks could pass without listening to them, but since then I, as you said, rediscovered everything I love about them. So now I probably don't go more than a few days at most, but I always have music on,so I listen to lots of new stuff too, Dry The River and Tame Impala being recent fav's.I hadn't listened to Wish for ages but played it over the weekend, back on the fav list, again!

Re: How often do you listen to The Cure?

I listen to them pretty much every week, sometimes I get caught up in bands that remind me of The Cure. I listen to Interpol a lot after seeing them open at Curiosa 2004. I also feel like I've re-discovered them if it's been awhile since I've listened. I fall in love all over again with certain songs..ok, well all of them :)

Re: How often do you listen to The Cure?

Every day.

I'm a fanatic. I only listen to The Cure. Well, almost. 9 out of 10 songs I hear is by The Cure.

And I go album by album. One week it's only Pornography on constant repeat, the next it's Disintegration etc.

It's strange. I never get too much The Cure. Can't believe I never get bored with the albums after so many years of listening. But it hasn't happened so far, and since I am now 40, I don't think it will ever happen.

When I go out I often choose pubs with one of two tings:

1) A jukebox with Cure albums (I've found 5 of them in Oslo so far)
2) A barkeep that knows my need and who will play lots of Cure for a little extra in the tip jar

Like I said, I'm a fanatic. A hopeless case. :)

I tried to create a new smiley face for “that’s hilarious,” but it looked deranged, so I’ll just say it: haha.

What other bands?

Re: How often do you listen to The Cure?

think it must be around a year. I have some times when I am in a bad period of my life stop to listen to them becuase the music can have a negative effect of me. I tried to listen to Korn, when I felt like listening to the cure. trying to protrude my feelings outward instead of inward as I have a strong tendency to do
I actually rediscovered them last year.
It is so strange it seems like I some times forget about them even though The Cure have allways been my favorite band. last year when I rediscovered them I cannot remember when, how and why I stop listening to them. It is just like the cure-memories are gone from the past three years. I think my mind plays tricks on me some times.

Re: How often do you listen to The Cure?

I’ll probably burn out on The Cure after a while (especially if they don’t release anything new), but as for now they‘re just right. Only thing is, I can’t listen to them on shuffle play—inevitably The Caterpillar pops up when I’m in a doesn’t-matter-if-we-all-die mood, and completely breaks my stride! I’m sure it wouldn’t bother me at a concert, though.

I listen to a few albums a week. Bestival is my favorite music to clean the house to lately... it keeps a spring in my step. Other albums are on rotation. I need at least a weekly dose.

haha. I cannot clean to the cure. I always find myself, sitting down somewhere and just listening to the music. I often hear some punk when cleaning ,ex NOFX gives you such a good tempo for the work. It goes much faster that way :-)

You’re right—The Walk, The Lovecats, and Hot Hot Hot!!! are very “springy” songs. Maybe this place wouldn’t be such a wreck if I listened to them more!

Tame Impala are a good Aussie band, I just don't like their music and you probably won't like mine! If anyone's interested just do a YouTube search for Lonerism and you can hear the whole album.

I post stuff in the What else is everybody listening to? thread from time to time. It looks like since the bass player/production guru has passed away from cancer from my favorite Aussie band Magic Dirt that's it for them. Sob. A new Something For Kate album was good and I like Violent Soho but there has been nothing to knock my socks off. I keep listening and waiting.....

does singing along to what's already in my head count?
Every day, then.
However, it is not non-stop. But at least once a day.
Does it have to be an entire song?
Cos it could be a lyric or two...

Addictive—good word. A year ago I couldn’t name a single Cure song; now I’ve joined a Cure forum. I better pace myself.
