I really love the video. I love the fact that the video references "Just Like Heaven" as the song tries to capture that same feeling.

My only question is, Why wasnt this the single for the US? Oh well, the cover art for alt.end is delicious nonetheless, and since the same people made its video, I am very much looking forward to seeing the treatment they give it.

I' ve been "Cured" once again
There is not much more to say since everyone has said it all. Although, I can't wait for all the new songs to made into videos so we can all enjoy them forever. It seems they will never go away which is good for us. Very,very good for us. Anyway,
"alt.end" is also a great song and I can't wait for it (all this news makes me feel like a little school girl every time someone mentions anything "Cure" related).

listen to the lyrics to alt.end. makes me wonder if this album is an alternate ending to the bloodflowers ending, and the maybe someday lyrics. gawd i love the cure. would hate to have the cure, the band, as a memory. would take some time getting used to. of course the music would live forever. but still, there is only one cure, one smith, one "i want this to be the end, i don't want another go around, i want this to be the last" - alt.end
i dunno, it keeps me on my toes. i hear that the cure has a 3 record deal with geffen, but who knows if they have to be cure records or not, and then again, i heard they may go back in the studio really soon and record again.
it has to be somewhat mundane, being front-man singer for almost 30 years coming up. wow. thanks robert smith, thanks a whole bunch.
There is no if...?
First off, I really do like this video. It's very um visually interesting and a bit dreamy. However, oddly enough at the risk of sounding like an idiot, it somehow reminds me of that "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" movie. It's just really funny but I can't help but think that because it appears that the band is very small like insects, surrounded by blades of grass. Anyway, that probably sounds kind of stupid and highly non profound but that just immediately came to me for some reason. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the "alt.end" video and single now and I myself am not disappointed that the US are getting it as a second single. In fact, I just have to say once and for all that I really don't understand why a lot of people don't care for "alt.end". I remember really liking it at first listen and I thought it was very catchy. It's a fabulous song from a fabulous album and quite possibly one of their best albums yet. And personally, I don't think it has anything to do with The Cure's future as a band. I have actually decided not to even speculate about that anymore, which is tough because I have always had that tendancy to speculate about almost everything. But I really don't know what will happen to The Cure in the future. And I don't even think that Robert has a clue either really. Well just have to wait and see. Meanwhile I'm just savouring every morsel The Cure are feeding us. This has been a fantastic year as far as The Cure is concerned. I finally got to see them live for the first time ever in 8 years. And I love this new album; and I'm talking the 'whole' thing (b-sides and all). See, I can't get upset about what country is getting what because that's just stupid. It's ALL for us. EVERY fan. EVERYWHERE. So I'm not getting upset about getting a different single and video in the US, I mean, I still got to see this one didn't I? And that's just it, that's what being a Cure fan is all about! The Cure knows that their true fans will will go to great lengths to seek them out. And that's what is so great about this band. It's all for us, who cares about the mainstream. They are SO loyal to their fans, and they know that we are loyal to them. So that's just how I feel about. I completely trust The Cure 100%. And if by some chance they do decide they don't want to do this anymore then that's that. I'm just grateful I got to enjoy all of this while I could. And you know, no matter what, to a Cure fan... it's never really the 'End'.

When I first saw that little picture with the black Robert silhouette (the one above)..I thought immediately of the "High-video"..because Robert flying again...well, I didn´t like the video for High but this one is...I like it! It fits The Cure...not that great of an idea but it works for me! simply lovely...dreamy..the colours...the vibe I get from it. The End Of The World-vid. was a class better...but this one touches me emotionally as well..though Robert is not really a vivid "bird"..ha ha!

Dear englishman. I have been some of the interviews that you have done for different papers at the site of A chain of flowers. Very really nice site dedicate to The Cure and I am a bit sad about you saying that Three Imaginary Boys is not a good album. It is a very good album. I party with it a lot at home. I do not know nothing about most of the music that is done; I am only an almost house-wife without husband and a mother, more or less but I find you much more oppressed in The Cure album that in the other. Really it seems too much for The Cure to be produced for anyone.
By the way, there is an interviewer in Spain called Buenafuente, translation: "goodfountain", I have been enyoying very much some of your interviews at the A Chain Of Flowers site (I found it!) and Why you do not go to Buenafuente Program? It is a humor program with interwievs, music, and at the end the musicians that are interviewed sing a song.
Reading some of your sayings I wonder, What would you sing if the end of the word was not caused by god of the man but for the Virgin Mary?

I have seen this video at yahoo music and also here.Somehow it remind me, though is quite different of course, the video of "high" that is in the Great Hits box. There is something about this two videos that I do not like. Perhaps you fliying?. It is something related with Jesus and crosses.Perhaps fliying without energy to fly, just letting yourself to fly? floating, I dont like it.

Rediscovering The Cure,& how it saved my life.
This video,especially the image captured and shown on website, seems to articulate how I felt when, a year ago I bought acouple of secondhand vinyl-namely "Seventeen Seconds" and "Faith". After playing them, loud, '17 Seconds' first and then the mighty 'Faith' I felt myself catapulted into the mind space that made Cure songs so meaningful to a 14yr-old New Zealander growing up in stifling conformity. And since that day, 1 year ago, Ive re-activated my creative side, bought a Telecaster and a Vox AC-15, A 4-track, and I'm writing again.Oh, not to mention the fact that my record collection has swollen somewhat after I,slowly but surely,replaced my entire Cure collection.
THANK YOU MR. SMITH AND ALL CURE MEMBERS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE ; THOU HAST SAVED A PART OF ME THOUGHT LONG DECEASED.

This great video remembers me the blending on Disintegration cover, one of my favorite album. And the cover art was so much like the music inside. I still miss the special edition picture disk of this album in my 12" disk collection :[. The same deep water as you have been long time my favorite song ever. I crated many artworks during my graduate years with the cure mood and inspiration. Now I'm getting back to my passion of painting and creating after many years and I think your music will take part in those creative moments.

I've been listening to THE CURE for more than 20 years and evrytime I listen something new it makes me feel that music hasn't been created at all. THE CURE has taught me with every new work that music is a whole world to be discovered. This video is a gorgeous thing, good energy, excellent effects. It has all that a video needs to get in to someone's feelings.

I am not particularly impressed with the Taking Off video. Um, It's okay, but it is nothing special. And whoever that was down there that so delicately stated "robert smith must get laid like a pimp" is obviously brain dead, I had to mention that. This is practically the same song as "Just Like Heaven", but it's better than most of the other new Cure stuff. I wish the lyrics weren't so recycled. But again, it's still gorgeous.

What an sweet video!
The Cure look like Lilliputians in an enchanted wood. And what can I say about Robert? Smudgy eye makeup and smeared tomato red lipstick would look weird (at best) and menacing (at worst) on anyone else...but, curiously, Robert just ends up looking even sweeter.
Discovered the vid yesterday, but I've viewed it at least a dozen times since. It's just so much fun to watch. I view it at work, so I can totally identify with the lyrics; I'm in just the mindframe to yearn for "tonight..."

Yo sé que Robert sabe algo de español, asà que por eso me animo a hacer mi petición en mi lengua madre.
Tuve la fortuna de conocer a Sir. R. Smith en persona en México D.F.
Asistà a los 4 conciertos, y eso que vivo en Guadalajara. (gané el viaje a Monterrey en una estación de radio)
Más sin embargo existen cientos de fans que (incluyéndome) quieren revivir esos momentos ya que sabemos que the cure tardará en regresar.
Fueron 4 conciertos épicos y creo que es justo que se edite un dvd con ellos.
Yo trabajo en el ramo del video, y sé que la calidad de la grabación no fue la óptima. El switcher de las cámaras fue muy al estilo de la t.v. de los 80's más sin embargo, pese a todo ello, ese material es una gran joya; ya que todos los fans de la república mexicana podremos curar nuestros corazones una y otra vez, llenándolos de esos recuerdos.

Es increible que después de tantos años y tantos videos a cuestas Robert aún me/nos siga sorprendiendo. Cierto es que la calidad con la que lo he podido ver a través de la red no es la adecuada y quizás por eso me parece que la escenificación y el atrezo no son de buena calidad, pero seguro se debe a la calidad de la descarga. Un video carino, stile "High". Non condivido solo la scelta del singolo... anche se è sulla scia che parte da "Just like heaven" (notate come la struttura dei due brani sia identica), per proseguire con "Friday I'm in love" e "Mint car". Detto questo, si sa che i singoli dei Cure sono i brani più radiofonici tratti dai loro brani. Vedevo meglio una "Us or them" o "Before 3" come singolo. Che dire? Che comunque i CURE sono sempre i migliori, che Robert stia sdraiato, seduto o per aria!!

i'm just 22 but i'm a big fan.. i think that the cure are the best band in the music history,i can say this cause nobody else's music and nobody else touched my heart and my memories as some songs of the cure.
Seasons succeed and i pull out the albums, and my memories..
I was excited for the new album,the new concerts, i even met you..
But something now has changed, they'll broadcast mtv icon next week on television and i've seen some parts of it..selling is so easy in these years...
i'll wait to see all the program but i was really disappointed.. i even don't know why but something's changed, and not in myself cause i'm a fan from when i'm 14 and i'm always the same person..
after the full program if i will change my opinion i will post my apology but now i'm really sad,maybe it was better when the cure didn't show themself so much, always in the dark and some light flashes that make the fans dreaming about them and theyr lifes...
dreaming that they are different from the corrupted world we living in and similar as me, they dream as me, they live as me and not in a money world where everyone kisses your feet...

I have to give this video props just for sheer coolness. I've always liked performance-based videos, plus the colors in this one are amazing. "Taking Off" is one of the best songs on the new album, and this is just the right video for it. Particularly worth mention is the contrast between the lyrics and the colors: The verses, speaking of tomorrow, are in dark sea green, while the choruses, speaking of tonight, are in bright gold. Mad props to whoever came up with that. Also interesting is the surrounding of the band by giant blades of grass. Perhaps the most underrated contrast, though, is that between Smith and the rest of the band: A group of average-looking guys of varying ages plays the music, while the song is sung by a pallid 44-year-old man with thick black eyeliner, crimson lipstick, and messy hair who occasionally floats up into the sky. Interesting, or something similar.
Seriously, though, it's a great video. "The End of the World" had a good one too. So far on this album's videos, the Cure are two for two. Now what I really want to see is a good vid of "Anniversary."

I saw it on MSN.com about a week ago.... Oh, what to say? It's like "High", but not as well-done. It's so cheesy, with only slight humor. The single is not one of the best tracks from the album. "(I Don't Know What's Going) On" would have been much better.
This is a minor disappointment. Now I need to go watch Psych. Furs videos to catch the comparison another fan mentioned... I fear the comparison will be too correct...
I do expect more from a Cure video. Even though "The End of the World" isn't one of my faves, either, at least the video was much more entertaining. -- Arran

Not only is the song a psych furs song, but the video looks like it came right off Book of Days, the OTHER Disintegration...aside from Never I think this is the worst track of the new material, but I wouldn't have posted if the video didn't look exactly like the cover of House by Pysch Furs....

I consider myself to be a honest person, and although this is probably the happiest song I have ever heard from The Cure, I still absolutely love it. I have found that many Cure fans love the Cure because of their ability to convey feelings through music, feelings that up until recently were mired in personal anguish and gloom. Don't get me wrong, I love that about the Cure. I am just as disenchanted with life and the world as the next person, but to hear a song with such exhiliration and joy from The Cure, makes me feel good. I know that sounds corny but thats how the song makes me feel. If someone can't see the beauty in this song, well then it's their loss. Keep up the great work. I know you will.

Cool little video. I wish "Taking Off" would have been the single released in the U.S., instead of "Alt. End." It's a catchier tune and would probably get more airplay than Alt. End (not that it matters).
