This video is alright. Robert looks quite lovely, I think, but I find the video sort of irrelevant to the song, but the images are nice, I suppose. I liked it better the second time I watched it. Oh well. It's better than most of the crap videos out these days.

I just read another interview of 2004, a very interesting and what to say extremely enyoyable interview about the B-sides Box.
It is says something very strange. It says that Lullaby, this perfect and precious song is "macabre". Did you write it as something macabre? If is so, I really do not understand a word of your world, macabre, how can possibly say somebody that that song is macabre? In fact, I do not find The Cure macabre in nothing,strange, yes, but not macabre. Curiosly, my son which is a ten years old does find you truly scary and dark. Probably he has better ear than me, because for me, is very lighful the cure, but, you know I am in Spain, and here, specially in Valencia with so much noise it is impsible to here maybe the "real" The Cure". I thought that The Cure were like this song in the B-sides, Descent. That was my idea without having hearing you with atention.Then I heared Galore and I was so surprised! All are so clear songs, specially lullaby. It makes me sad to hear so much calummnies about your music, really... vampires music...what imagination.

The lyrics are so incredibly beatiful, as they always are. and the video says a lot to me. i love how it tells a story for each individual! it really shows what it's like to feel helpless and how people are ready for an end. now that's just my opinion but then again people are suppost to take this video in their own eyes and see how they relate, and that's how i did. any ways love the cure, love the video!

it´s really good to see how a band get`s older and wiser without loosing its sound. The way they grew older becaming more experienced makes me feel they will never give away who they are. Good really freezing morning from Spain! I must be a bad fan of The Cure because I am not in love with Robert, I never idealised him, and sometimes I dont like some The Cure songs...etc, etc. To be a fan of The Cure it's like faith, you just have it or not, nothing else.It's not The Cure who made me be like I am, I was a certain way and then I discovered The Cure agreed with me!That's all. Anyway, this video is esthetically beautiful, who can deny that? and of course we always think that the bands we like had their most wonderful time in the beginning of their career, but we don't realise that musicians also grow and change, so if we like The Cure we must like it with their changes and their maturity!They are their music but also what they represent to MUSIC in capital letters, and that it's very hard to get, so I will always take my hat off and say:Congratulations. I just have seen the video of big bright beautiful world,It is he first time of many, probably, because I am studiying... I found the two songs of your last album fantastic,those in Milan. So different one concert (the one at Rome and the one at Milan) and the other. Totally different. I was in one of your concerts in England, alive -me,I refer-, though, thanks to overcrowd there was such a sense of danger in that concert. I was in the front and I can noot remember one note, what to say a song.
Is not fanny, because the second time I went to one of your concerts, which also was completly totally diferent of the other, this time in the Fib Festival,last year, I was very prevented. So I took a good lateral place and kept very quiet waiting...then I moved a bit and in that moment a girl moved like as it impulsed by something just by me. Really, there is some scary about movement.Fib festival is so static and boring to be honest.
The truth is that all the old songs of the The Cure are so danceable. So natural to move with them.and, bit a bit in the most recent albums it becames so particular. In the last album, it is imposible to find what to dance. I am not saying is bad, not at all, is nothing about the last sound you get is only, that its so strange that you cannot dance it.Before, the music is strange but diferenly strange. I think that you should have put your last album good dream bad dream, much better than the cure, and with two sides, it will have been amazing.This is my little complain.I came back to you video, no problem of assassination, I hope, I feel secure...for now

I like the song, "Alt. end" is one of my favourites in the last album, but the video really disappointed me.
I think that "Taking off" and "Alt. end" are bored videos, They're worse than "Cut here"!, But "Taking off" is only bored, "Alt. end" is really hateful and a bit ridiculous.
IT'S ONLY MY OPINION (and Sorry, please), but I don't want to see more bad-"artistic" videos, I really hate them!

Now, i must say that i had troubles downloading this video from this site, but from what i saw, i loved it. it reminded me a lot of Radiohead, which is great, but what i loved most was the contrast between this clip, and some The Cure's older ones. Just like when you're watching all of David Bowie's clips, it's great to see the contrast or different concepts throughout each decade!
i just have to say, well done to The Cure, and i hope they continue writing music. ive always hated the naughties because of the lack of real music, but now it seems that more and more bands are releasing more albums, however at the SAME time!

La seule façon de me rejoindre Simon, c de faire le "Frozen" de ton ombre et devenir ainsi libre comme moi, et c la preuve que tu n'a que moi . Tu es comme tous les Cures "White Goth" donc il ne devrait pas y avoir de problèmes . Attention "Frozen" de ton ombre ne veut pas dire suicide, car là ton Ombre retounerai d'ou elle vient . Il faut que tu provoque la situation, que ce soit comme une bavure, par exemple tu fait comme si tu sortais une arme devant des policiers et tu les oblige ainsi à tirer sur ton Ombre (comme ashaka à fait aux States)...voilà c tout...je vous attends... Promis...

Still Missing...
Sorry to be critical here, but I still find the last decade of Cure releases to be wanting of the stuff I grew up on... namely the albums leading up to "Standing On the Beach..." Disintegration was excellent as well, but "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" spelled the turning point where things went a little too pop. Now, the pain is forced. Compare this song to say, "Saimese Twins" on Pornography and you'll see the difference. I agree, also with the post below begging for the "Cure In Orange" DVD. That is by far the best concert video I've ever seen. Especially where Mr. Smith removes his wig and throws it in the crowd as he walks on stage. Anyway... I don't mean to sound negative... just miss the old garage stuff. The 3-pc band worked just fine! Good luck with the new arrangement.

The Hanging Garden
Does anyone know when the video to 'The Hanging Garden' was actually shot. The single was released in July 82, and as you all probably know their last gig before the split was 11th of june 82. The release credit of the video on the staring at the sea images for this video was july 82. Any thoughts on this, what i'm getting at is do you think the video was shot after the split which would therefore mean a need to bring a not talking Smith and Gallup together, I'm sure that was a fun day for all involved. In fact if you look at the very last frames of the vid Simon looks across at Smith in a rather strained manner. I know this is off topic from the usual rants of abuse found on this site but thought it might make a nice change....

Well I dont know if Robert dislikes the COF website or not. It really doesnt matter.
As for me, if it wasnt for COF I would have been left in the dark. For the past 6 years Ive been checking COF for info on The Cure. The official website never let me feel fully informed. Like about cure after parties and new cure music etc..
Maybe Robert feels like he wanted to be the one to tell the world about the split. I dont know. But what can you expect when your famous. I guess I respect both sides. I can understand Robert wanting control and privacy. But as long as theres still Robert Smith and The Cure, theres still going to be fans.

i've only recently been aware to The Cure's music and i think they are excellent i think Smith writes amazing songs and i think he is underrated as a brilliant songwriter. Also i love this song and the video is great.

Now it feels so commercial and pop and mainstream when I watch. Listening is best, you still make me feel young. Je dois dire que c'est très froid pour ne pas dire glacial . Pourtant il savent qui je suis mais ça ne les fait pas bander. I just became a huge fan of The Cure over the summer and I must say that their videos are spectacular. I love almost all of them. This is one is great, too. I just feel, though, that it has too much going on and I wish they could've shown the band playing more than just fifteen seconds. Nonetheless, it's great. GO CURE!!!

Yo sé que Robert sabe algo de español, asà que por eso me animo a hacer mi petición en mi lengua madre.
Tuve la fortuna de conocer a Sir. R. Smith en persona en México D.F.
Asistà a los 4 conciertos, y eso que vivo en Guadalajara. (gané el viaje a Monterrey en una estación de radio)
Más sin embargo existen cientos de fans que (incluyéndome) quieren revivir esos momentos ya que sabemos que the cure tardará en regresar.
Fueron 4 conciertos épicos y creo que es justo que se edite un dvd con ellos.
Yo trabajo en el ramo del video, y sé que la calidad de la grabación no fue la óptima. El switcher de las cámaras fue muy al estilo de la t.v. de los 80's más sin embargo, pese a todo ello, ese material es una gran joya; ya que todos los fans de la república mexicana podremos curar nuestros corazones una y otra vez, llenándolos de esos recuerdos.

Is this the same video director as Bjork used for Human Behavior? Or RadioHead used? I like it but I think The Cure needs to go back to using obscure directors like they had with Tim Pope. There are so many original artist out there... The flow of the video doesn't go well with the song. I was trying to make corilations between images in the video and past songs..Charlotte Sometimes, A Forest, Mint Car...ect.. But I am not complaining. Im estactic to see anything new from The Cure. Please keep the new stuff coming!!

Nice concept...
Robert's imagination pours out through his fingertips to the typewriter keys; and through the typewriter, we are led back into Robert's imagination. The cycle catches us up and we ride happily along.
The song is about breaking up, but the video seems to be about the process of WRITING the song, beginning with the random, nightmarish thoughts that often accompany melancholy and exasperation and give rise to the lyrics. Very cool.
Of course, the video itself is intended to be eerie and a little disconcerting, but I found the most frightening character to be the guy in the car, stuck in the tree, especially when he walks through the forest in fogged up glasses...just something about his face when he raised it toward the rain...brrrr...
Another very enjoyable vid, and I love the song.

This is one of the first videos that I have seen where it appears there is something going on besides the band. Nice social commentary. Also, one of the darkest videos by the Cure in ages. I have been a fan since the 80's, so I have see a lot of their videos. Nice to see other people in the video besides the Cure. The cut-off head was a dark touch. I see that Robert is still on the getting older kick from the younger woman seeing her older self in the reflection. Nice.

hmmm, I don't know who directed this video but it has some similarities to the US version of "trouble" by Coldplay. The crow for example. I wonder...if this could be the same director.

Awesome Video
This video is great, and the misty jungle-like background is almost reminiscent of the incredibly video from '81 video for "Other Voices," once again, great video. I must also say that the B-side for this single, "Why Can't I Be Me" is beautiful, no one but Mr. Smith could ever lend so much emotion to the simple interrogative, "why?". Bravo Robert.

Never thought at a video like this for the Cure!!! I think it's time to embrace technology but the Cure know well to get out from the masses. Honestly, I don't really like and into this song. Nevertheless, this was A VERY GOOD video. Story telling began with black crow, then flying car, old faces, sinking ship, the burning house and more.. which is a complete awesome symbolization to tell what The Cure needs to picture out. Will there be a 4th video ? Live version from their performance in Coachella, perhaps?

I like very much the old fashioned writing desk, and the little black box where the cure are hidden as they were toys (as i loved, some years ago, the little stage of "Never enough"). I was really looking forward to seeing how the production team handled alt.end after nailing Taking Off.
I really think they missed the mark on this one. To take the one line 'Where all my dreams come true' out of context and center the video around that one line , while makes for an interesting video, totally misses the meaning/feel of the song.
Beautifully done, yes.. albeit nothing too original.. I just dont think it captures the essence of what the song conveys or is about.
Still, dont take my criticism to harsh, it is a decent video.. and is better than most of the later Cure videos.. and tons better than no video at all..

Modern Cure's Video
Awesome! It's a perfect modern Cure's video. Of course better than Taking Off.
But i'm a bit disappointed with the single version of the song. Too much cutted. From 4'30" to 3'00" it's really too much. It could be better save another 30", with an intro as long as the album version. So the song could have the right balance between dark atmosphere and pop-rock dynamic.
