April 19 was a rainy day in Bogota. I arrived in town after a trip of 10 hours and I stood 11 hours before seeing The Cure, so I wondered what any human would wonder in such situation: How owner myself I am right now? or am I a slave more of show business? ( I rambled a lot in 11 hours jeje) When The Cure came out onstage all made sense, even the rain. It was strange I was no longer Lucia, the woman tied to her fate, at that moment I was free… all that is part of my daily life disappeared (well everything except for my glasses with which I had problems throughout the concert) and I was HAPPY. At one point Robert took his acoustic guitar and started playing "IN BETWEEN DAYS" and I smiled and thought that at that time he also was free and able to express all its sweetness and I could perceive it and be part of the moment... then he saw me and smiled back (do not know how it could be possible - well I was close to the stage-). Wow what a great, poetic and magical moment!!! I’m not a virtual girl, not consciously at least. This virtual world is so superficial and I prefer to structure my experiences deeply, but I felt the need to tell this. I could not hold back any longer. So THANKS Robert. And as my favorite poet (Vicente Huidobro) sayd: “Al irte dejas una estrella en tu sitio, dejas caer tus luces como el barco que pasa…” (Sorry it´s in Spanish. I agree with the proposal that traslator is a traitor) So a big hug (a virtual one) and of course a smile :) Saludos, Lucía

Hello Robert! I’m Karen from Chile, and I was one of the girls that gave to Roger a Chilean flag! He said to my friend he gave it to you (I hope you still have it…) so… you can see my message on it (Karen S.) :) !! By the way, it was a perfect concert… (!!!) Now, I have a question for you. Have you ever thought about writing a song from the point of view of a fan, somebody who loves madly to an impossible person? You know… that painful feeling. Or, do you think that you already have a song for that? Which? It’s just curiosity… By the way, as in the flag, thank you for coming to Chile, please come back…

Hi Robert, my name is Caro and I'm from Chile. I read somewhere that among the writers you like the most is Hermann Hesse, is that true? If you do not mind, can you tell me, what would be one of your favorite books of him? Well, if it isn’t true, you should read him, it’s a very good writer, at least for me. In parenthesis: This website is really weird, it doesn’t let me write my name as a user (squirrel nut) the one that I have now is ugly and embarrasses me. It was great that you came to Chile... (sorry for my english!)

Hello Robert, I've read in many interviews that you are quite a reader. I wonder if you've read anything on queer theory (and if you haven't, I recommend you do). It's a wide subject (some works are related to politics, sexual diversity, aesthetics, etc), but since I started studying this area your show aesthetics through the years came to my mind and I think in some point your stage persona can be considered in relation to queer theory. I am very surprised I couldn't find any papers on that. Anyway, warm greetings from Argentina. Last april's show was really good and I'd like to see you again soon (in case you are returning, consider the posibility of playing a couple of nights on a smaller venue, such as the "luna park" or the "gran rex", that would aloud us fans to enjoy even more the excellent sound of the band plus having a bit of a more intimate experience).

My love was so raw....so real. I forgot about you,to try to live. But youve brought it all back and i dont know why. I wish you would have left it alone if you werent coming home because now the pain is back and i cant stop crying and feeling so lost. My heart yearns for you and mourns too. I can never go to you like i want to by the powers that hold me still not of my making. I dont know what to do. I guess nothing. Stay out of my dreams and leave my soul alone. Fly someplace else,to the moon or to the sea! I dont care anymore. I dont want to care anymore.

Dear Robert, I'm 18 and I recently got accepted to the School of Visual Arts in NYC. You have influenced me so much to, artistically, reach my full creative potential (or at least strive to reach it). I admire everything you've accomplished, especially Blue Sunshine. I definitely take the experimental elements of that album and attempt to convey it in my art. I suppose the whole reason why I'm writing is to thank you. You're a great inspiration in my work. If you have time, I would love for you to check out my art blog. Some of the pieces on there are actually inspired by your work. Thank you for your time, Sarah McIlvaine http://sarahmcilvaine.tumblr.com/

Dear Robert. First of all I am infinitely grateful that you decided to do this tour of Latin America. I am Venezuelan but I live in Argentina since 4 years ago, I listen to The Cure since I was 10 years old (now I am 36), that time impressed me to see a video of you on TV. Your music has accompanied me since then, has been the soundtrack of my life. You can not imagine how much I cried with joy, jumped with excitement and I was happy when you said in an interview last year that you'd come back to Latin America, and when you named Venezuela and Argentina, Oh God! Was awesome!! I was thinking: ´ll gonna see The Cure 2 times!! yes yes !!!, but… in Venezuela failed to pass :( maybe in other time. I was like The Hobbit of Lord of the Rings when I had the ticket in my hand, it was my treasure, my precious. That night at River Plate you moved my feelings taking them to the top. I was moved when stared Plainsong, Pictures of You, I cried was beautiful. When rang "Figth" felt like the blood was running thousands of miles per hour my veins and when you played Fight I took a trip to the moon, amazing!! I can see you there with Simon, Roger, Jason and Reeves, I looked like a beautiful dream comming true. I had to see you again, so I ran to Ezeiza Airport with a good friends to say goodbye, I had to tell you that I loved you and thank you for being you and give music to my life. But my tongue tangled with my nerves and I could not speak a decent English for you. I could only ask for a photo with me (now that picture is my greatest treasure. When I asked if I could hold you for the picture and you said yes, my heart exploded with joy, I was shaking, but I was entirely happy. I hope that "see you again" as you said in River Plate will be very soon. Thank you Thank you Thank you and I love you, I love you so much!! Greetings to Tim Pope too! Is nice that he was filming the documentary, will be something quite beautiful and that many will love what it means. I would like to be like him as a filmmaker, makes videoclips for The Cure and shoot a documentary for you too :) Peace !! please come back soon, I miss you, and many many miss you too Mary

It would be far better to simply have a Mariachi ensemble playing Mexican folkloric tunes to celebrate your birthday on stage. But by allowing and supporting the taken decision of such opening bands you are giving up with the righteous attitude you were having in 1978 when breaking the contract with Hansa records in sake of the real deep love for your freedom as an artist and do what you really wanted in the quest for artistic freedom, so please this time again be consequent and please do not do the Hansa way, do not do the OCESA way, not now , not in Mexico. Please Robert I humbly ask you to reconsider such decision, is much better to disappoint three artists that deserve not to be there, than disappoint thousands of the people that we realy love your music and we were expecting you to stick to your word of bringing local well known or raising new real local talents, but so far is not the case. My bands suggestions you don’t need them you already have many from my unknown and powerless co-national fellows.. So Robert keep at blaze, keep on walking in the light paths. From the shadows to the light. Thanks for reading this.

Dear Robert , first of all I would like to state that I admire enjoy and appreciate your music, composition talent, lyrics writing(poetry) and guitar style and performance and The Cure music as an unique artistic expression from its very beginnings in 1979 to nowadays.(It Is also fair to say that I have bought all the original records you have been involved in as I always wanted to support your artistic career and of those collaborating with you and your projects ). Second I would like to say that I have never thought of writing this or any words to you as I am only a melomaniac , and I do not really care about nothing else that has to do with you and The cure but only about the music itself. Nevertheless now I really consider necessary to speak out, as a consequence of a decision taken by you, The Cure or the organizers-the OCESA company the biggest masters of puppets of the showbiz in Mexico- of your soon coming concert in Mexico city. Third, I also consider important to say that I believe that what makes the difference between simple men and exceptional humans is their capability of be consequent or not with their words and their acts, as I truly believe that the words of humans should be the main building blocks of reality. We need to be consequent if we want to change this decaying reality in a positive way. These are the facts: A few weeks ago you posted a message in diverse forums asking your audience to provide suggestions in order to help you to decide what “local acts” could be considered as opening acts for The Cure in every single country where you were going to perform along the LatAm Tour. When I read that I was positively impress that you wanted to give local talents a push up, wow that sounded great! In the subsequent days I saw how many of your loyal listeners and readers where providing their suggestions, some of them even posting several time their sayings with the mistaken thought that the more spam the merrier . It was very clear that this was not a voting democratic system and so far that was ok from a common sense perspective. As the final decision It was clear was going to be in your or The Cure hands. It was not even necessary to suggest my-self any band as It was already represented in the before mention posts. Nevertheless the day of yesterday the organizers of the Mexico concert (Ocesa)published in their web page the name of the “guest bands” that are going to function as opening act. Here the link http://www.ocesa.com.mx/noticia/conoce-a-los-invitados-del-concierto-de-the-cure/. And Here is the big deal and the reason of this long letter. You were asking for “local supporting acts” as opening act which is clear that they were supposed to be Mexican bands or Mexican artists (musicians), and disappointingly they are not and those chosen they r do not represent at all the Mexican music scene. ANDREA BALENCY is a French artist which decide to have a nomadic life in Latin America and now simply happens that she lives in Mexico and after quitting with their local Mexican supporting band in order to build up a “solo career “ by “chance” she has the favor of Ocesa and yours? ,hmmmh . Then JOHNNY INDOVINA whom is a singer, songwriter and producer born in New Orleans, and has nothing to do with the “local supporting act” as Mexican musician of the Mexican music scene, but as an American producer and as owner of a semi-independent label, which has economic partnership with the Ocesa company, hmmmmh but not with you Robert or maybe this are friendly politics and is time to pay favors back in the industry? I do not think so I just wonder. And the last plastic diamond of your opening “loca supporting acts” or “guests”: LORELLE MEETS THE OBSOLETE, which amazingly happen that again this is a band that is under the big hand of Ocesa as a product targeting the American(USA) market and that even though the members count with Mexican passports, they have been producing all of his music in English an only in English, which is a marketing related strategy, therefore in the real local alternative or mainstream music scene this band has nothing to do, with as you might know Spanish is the language that 90 percent of Mexicans speak from the cradle to the grave, and the other 10 percent left they speak in indigenous languages like Nahuatl , Zapotec etc. It seems that OCESA show you a very limited or bias menu and from all the Mexican rock movement sang in Spanish, you or the Cure or someone decided to avoid the Spicy happy Mexican Tacos from the menu and you fell into the temptation to chose the Triple cheese burger, and French fries as opening acts for your and our concert. And If I am writing these words in English is because is the language you speak and the one I can communicate with you. I definitely when I bought my ticket I thought I would be supporting these artists, is unfair to me and many others. My complain has nothing to do with the quality of the performers, their country of origin or the language they have chosen to express themselves, but it has to do that I was really expecting your human word to be true, and consequent and place real local supporting acts, Mexican bands that deserve to be there because of their guts and efforts and talent and not only because they are friends or products or by-products of the Master of puppets(OCESA). In that case is better not to have no one as openers. Sadly one Sunday I waited and waited with flowers of LoVe for the dream i created. I waited til dreams, like my heart, were all broken. The flowers were all dead and the words unspoken. The grief that I knew was beyond all consoling. The beat of my heart was a bell that was tolling Saddest of Sundays Then came a Sunday when you came to find me They bore me to church and left you behind me. My eyes could not see one i wanted to love me. The earth and the flowers are forevernabove me. The bell tolled for me and the wind whispered "NEVER" But you i have loved and i bless you forever Last of all Sundays
