Hey :)

Anyone can sing! You just gotta get past that first plateau with learning.

I'm a music education major at a conservatory. It's really hard, but really fun. I'm that guy that loves music history/theory and being around other musicians. But of course, I still feel inadequate compared to them since I don't shine in one instrument particularly. I am a vocal student though, so I guess that's my main thing.

I'm like literally the exact same way. =w= never, ever, ever, gets old to me
Posted by mattsharp4ev1126 on 8/4/2010 3:09 PM (GMT-04:00)
Absolutely. The best thing about Streetlight though is the lyrics. They're very technical. Right now I'm in a sort of Grunge phase. I never really liked Nirvana until about 6 months ago, and now that whole style is really appealing to me.

Yeah, I went through a huge Ska phase for a while, but I realized I wasn't really happy enough for so much Ska, and sorta twirled back down into my indie/ nerd rock roots. But Weezer has always been my one and only. I do still love Streetlight and RBF though. Streetlight has a really dark tone, and RBF is just hilarious.

That's like a subconscious dream of mine. Unfortunately to take the time to become presentable at multiple instruments subtracts practice time from others meaning you don't become as good as you hope. That's sort of my problem. I go to school with musicians who've played/sung with less time under their belt, but when I was investing in Mandolin, they were practicing the main instrument and surpassed me. In the long run, I really don't know what's better. Being extremely proficient at one instrument, or having a diverse, but technically limited cache.

Ok, I'll try. Weezer (duhh), the Rentals, Oasis, Blur, Van Halen, the Pixies, Nirvana, Modest Mouse, Phoenix, Marcy Playground, Dinosaur Jr., Wheatus, Tegan & Sara, Green Day, Blink 182, Flogging Molly, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, David Bowie, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab for Cutie, Special Goodness, Chopper One, NWA, Ludo, the Wallflowers, and yet another list that could literally go on for days and days.

Trombone would be sweet. My band instrument of choice would be French Horn, though. They sound so smooth.
Posted by G_Foo_Chombey on 8/2/2010 4:53 PM (GMT-04:00)
I do lots. Bass, Guitar, learning drums, Piano, Mandolin, Various percussion, and I sing. I'd explain my training, but around these parts that makes me an elitist/pretentious.
Posted by mattsharp4ev1126 on 8/2/2010 4:42 PM (GMT-04:00)
Yes we do. What bands are you into besides Weezer? And yeah, that was my favorite picture from the concert. I still love the songs from the black hole cover art, but I've had that since I started.
Posted by G_Foo_Chombey on 8/2/2010 1:12 AM (GMT-04:00)
You're a guitar player. eh? How long have you played?
Posted by mattsharp4ev1126 on 8/1/2010 5:25 PM (GMT-04:00)
Well the fact you said I have a good taste in music, tells me you must have pretty good taste too. Where ya been?

I haven't the slightest idea. We lost touch since she moved. You're her doppelganger! Or she's yours depending on which side of the spectrum you're on. Mehhh

You wouldn't happen to be related to a "Kasie Adhernt", are you? She was a good friend of mine and moved to MN a while ago. You two look quite similar..
